Feeding a freeloader

A real Non Performer
Since the late 40s or early 50s we have been dumping loads of Tax Dollars into the deadbeat group called the United Nations.

Here are their stated goals for the Millennium

1. Eradicate extreme poverty and hunger
I don’t see the UN succesfully doing that anywhere
2. Achieve Universal Primary Education
Ditto
3. Promote Gender Equality and Empower Women
Ditto
4. Reduce Child Mortality
Ditto
5. Improve Maternal Health
Ditto
6. Combat HIV/AIDS malaria and other diseases
Maybe, but don’t the World Health Organization do that?
7. Ensure environmental stability
Ditto....Check with Al Gore!!!
8. Develop a global partnership for development
What does that mean?? Send bill to USA....

Sounds like a bunch of feel good bullshit…..,

I thought it was supposed to prevent wars and revolutions and that sort of thing, if so then it failed miserably for well over 50 years and only managed to pass scads of resolutions that everyone ignores

I am fed up supporting the UN and think we should get out of it, and evict the whole kaboodle from Manhattan….

Anybody want to show me any UN good accomplishments and successes I’ll think on it some more….

I don't agree with a whole lot of what the John Birch Society has to offer but I've always agreed with their stance of "Get the US out of the UN and the UN out of the US!".

Since its inception, it has been a 'paper tiger' and a front for the US to do whatever its going to damn well do anyway but hopefully with full UN sanctions. I agree with you totally.

Yeah. Seems like a boring expensive talk fest whose representative is some failed ex politician. Seems that way down here anyway. They did muster the troops and went into Kosovo. I'm not aware of how much help they sent Australia if any a few years ago when we went in and kicked Indonesia out of Papua New Guinea. That was a nasty conflict. I can only surmise that if it had not been for the huge gasfields under the Timor Sea between here and there Indonesia would still be murdering natives up there. Seems every conflict ever waged has been over resources whether it be to secure a pipeline or oil or minerals. I digress. Spot on Brewguru. They do seem to be pretty ineffectual.

I do not follow the UN much, though I am aware that the US is the by far major financial contributor of all its actions and financing. That dissapoints me, makes the whole thing seem pretty useless.
However, I want to comment that JoyBoy has it so... very... right. Every war ever waged in history has been about resources - greed, guys with a need to steal what others have and control those not smart enough to see through them. Even Iraq and Al Quada is about a small group of men mind controlling other people so they can be in control. God, like any parent, would be heart broken over his children killing each other. Any one who sanctions killing or even deliberately harming others in the name of God is in reality working for the purpose of pure evil.

The U.N. was a failure also when it was called League of Nations so why think it would or could be anything different.What a drain on all of us.

Chipshotnsd said it all: "What a drain on all of us." I'm sick and tired of saving a world of people who won't take responsibility for themselves. But, then, we don't ask them to. The US will take care of everybody (except its own).
One of my favorite charities is Heifer International that gives people the tools and education and start-ups to take care of themselves, on condition that they 'pass it along.' If only Uncle Sam's directorship was as insightful... Marty
