Fullmetal Alchemist
I had seen a few eps on the Toon channel and wasn't sure it'd be that good...wow was I wrong. After a few light episodes things settled in and got very serious and interesting for the Elric brothers. I watched all 51 episodes and the follow up OVA.
Some great villains in the seven homunculi (beings without souls) named after the deadly sins. Envy and Gluttony are especially dastardly. The anime wraps up quite nicely and I think well worth the time. Watch the first 10 or 12 episodes and see. My favorite line from the anime is when Edward Elric declares "I've met so many idiots who ass I have to kick I'm going to have to start making a list."
