ATTENTION!

What we give our attention to will grow. Attention is part of our greater potential and is essential in spiritual development. Give your attention to the core of your being and it will grow and expand. Attention initiates the creative process on all planes. When we give our attention to something we are channeling energy; ever felt like someone was looking at you, you could feel their presence even thought you could not readily see who it was. In this situation some will say “I felt their eyes on me.”

When we give our undivided attention to something it is called “concentration,” and I’ve heard lots of people say that they have trouble concentrating, but when you are angry there is no problem concentrating; you are fixed on the object of your anger with laser like concentration. If we could but take that same concentration which we have when we are angry and focus it into something constructive we would be great builders.

In kabbalistic thought there is a saying that we should build the Adytum; which is the inner temple of our own being, and this temple is built by silent focused attention/concentration.

Amazing how human beings seek the attention of other human beings, and some believe that negative attention is better than no attention at all, so they will act out just to get some attention. We primarily give attention with our eyes but attention can be given with all of our senses, as giving attention means that you are in touch with something; you have connected with it. Give attention to details is something which I was always told in school.

Attention is a magical property which we all possess; it is amazing what you can do with your attention. With our attention we exert our will over things and what we concentrate on will eventually reveal it’s inner workings. Attention and memory are the basis of education. We apply what we know because we have given it our attention, stored it in our memory, and it becomes second nature to us as part of our being. We take things in with our attention but we also send out things with our attention. Attention is a wonderful gift which we all have and it has a potential that goes far beyond reading this post. Attention is directly connected to awareness, and awareness is pure un-reflected light.

According to the teachings of Abraham-Hicks, that which you focus on (give your attention to) is what manifests in your life. Give your attention to something that you want to the extent of actually picturing yourself having it and it is yours.

Here is where many of us go astray. We want something so badly that we focus our attention on the fear of not getting it (the mentality of a losing gambler). Since we are focused on not getting it, we don’t get it.

A perfect example of this is the couple that wants to have a baby. They are so focused on the fear of not being able to have a baby that they cannot even picture themselves with a baby. So they finally give up and adopt a baby. Now, once they have a baby in their arms they have no trouble conceiving their own child. The fear is gone. The pressure is off. Now they give all their attention to having a baby and soon they have more than they can handle.

This works with money too. And so the rich get richer, and the poor get poor, and it is all a matter of where your attention is focused.

This is the work of a Master Mason as well – as he builds without the sound of tools.

This is so well written. Such a basic concept that is so difficult for people to master. Mister Benny said it when he said that people focus on the fear and the lack and not that which they desire. I know I need all the remimders that come my way. Thanks,

Oh so true misterb. Far to often we verbalize what we want but our focus remains on past disillusions & fear. The negative always seems to be the focal point. Good read EZ2.

A very good post indeed. We unknowingly attract what we think...focusing on whats missing, instead of what we want. Again it's that simple. Misterbenny reference a book by Ester and Jerry Hicks, "Ask and it is Given" (The Learning of Abraham). Another good source for attracting what we need or desire is a book by Shakti Gawain, Creative Visualization.

Peace and light.

EZ2,
I have been working on this theory in my life for a short time. I believe what your saying is true. It sure takes time on practicing it but I have seen wonderful results in my personal life .
just wish we could all learn this quicker!

Good idea but it has some holes in it. You can not be angry and concentrate at the same time. Anger is a negative reaction (EMOTION) caused by chemicals in the brain. You must learn to control your anger before you can pay attention to anything (To stay in the present or meditate.)
Anger also blots out awareness as it takes over your whole being. Peace.

“You can not be angry and concentrate at the same time.”

An angry person usually has a fixated attention similar to concentration. Thus they may say “I’m so mad that I can’t think of anything else. When a person is angry they are fixated, similar to concentration.

“Anger is a negative reaction (EMOTION) caused by chemicals in the brain.”

This is true according to a biomedical model but from a spiritual point of view anger is the result of and energy blockage or a person being polarized. Spiritually speaking a person gets angry because they have latched onto something which they have taken very personally; which then causes biochemical changes in the brain. Although a person who has a severe pre-existing physical imbalance may experience a chemical change first which then later effects their behavior. There are lots of different schools of thought on what causes anger. True most people do embrace the allopathic biomedical model, as you have Foxbay, but I am more eclectic and often prefer a more holistic point of view.

Further, anger is not necessarily a negative emotion; there are times when it is appropriate to be angry. Anger is not the problem rather it is what we do with our anger that may, or may not, create a problem. Anger can be a healthy emotion if properly expressed.

“Anger also blots out awareness as it takes over your whole being”

This I agree with, and is what I mean by fixation. A person who stews in their anger can become very unhealthy because it will take over their whole being, but anger safely and appropriately expressed is not necessarily negative, and a person does not have to hold onto their anger and stew in it until it takes over their whole being. A person can very politely express their feelings, including anger, but there are alot of people who just don’t do that. Instead of being appropriately assertive alot of people are just angrily aggressive.

Much of what I have written in the original post came from Kabalistic training which I took back in the 1970’s. I took courses and did exercises over a 20 year period of studying Kabbalah, and one of the courses covered the various components of human consciousness; “attention” is one of those components. I have also worked in the mental health field and used concentration techniques and also visualization techniques, for many decades with wonderful results. so for me this is not a “theory.”

Regardless, thank you, to all of you, for your feedback.

Peace & Good Journey
