The Planned Attack on Iran or bargaining leverage?

The US is beating the drums for war with Iran, again. But Israel has been talking up war also. And in the last few days, Israel has (1) agreed to a cease-fire with Hamas, (2) started negotiations with Lebanon to return some territory that Israel has occupied for over 40 years, (3) confirmed that talks with Syria are under way and (4) reportedly staged operations that look like preperation for an attack on Iran.

Is this an elaborate feint or are the decks being cleared for war with Iran after the recent outbreak of peace, democracy and the good life in Iraq?

Do Americans even care?

I fear that the strategy is for Israel to attack Iran, and the US to jump in to defend Israel (of course by October).

First, as to whether Americans care, a good number can't find the United States on a map, so, no, probably not.

As to the second, the Israelis have already conducted two successful attacks against alleged alleged nuclear sites; one in the eighties against Saddam Husein's Iraq and just this September 6th against Syria. And they are more than aware of the nuclear developments in Iran and have viewed them with great concern.

In the meantime Iran's leaders have espoused the elemination of the Israeli state recently and in the past.

Now, as to bargaining, its the Middle East, its not fixed price country. Everyone wants something and question is how far will one or both sides go to get it. Like it or not, the United States is the third party involved in all of this as the firewall and trip wire whether by plan or happenstance, with happenstance not the most likely of scenarios. The Israelis, the Iranians and lot of other people in the Middle East have us exactly where they want us, in the middle. And quite frankly there is no one else who by happenstance or plan could be in the middle. And quite frankly there are a lot of other counties and leaders in those countries, glad we are in the middle.

As a footnote; the Israelis are believed to have a nuclear arsenal of about 150 weapons. However, it is questionable as to how capable the Israeli military is able to delivery a weapon. The use of Israeli aircraft is subject to local intercept and destruction, whereas a missile of 1000 mile range or more is not. What is unknown as to what the Israelis have in long-range launch capability of using airborne platforms to throw cruise missiles and shorter standoff ballistic missiles at an enemy. Regardless, the United States has the skies of the Middle East under constant and detail scrutiny, and has the capacity to intercept a launch threat by either side, sorta of.

the Isreali secret service the Mossad, makes the CIA and KGB look like kittens as far as their intelligence system go.
takking out a suspected nuclear installation, makes a lot of people happy but an all out invasion, looks bad thruout the world.
intresting thing is the Jewish state since the begining of the new Jewish state has vowed that the holocaust will never happen again, even if they have to take the rest of humanity with them(God is on our side). The Islamic states the same thing, that they will take everybody down too(Allah is on our side).
is this a stand off recently or a rattle of swords?
