It is too bad this is how he ended his career....God Bless Curt and thanks for helping us win two World Series. Enjoy retirement.
Curt was not just a great pitcher, but a great human being. Did you know that when Katrina hit, he paid for housing in the Boston area, for a family he didn't even know for a full year, as well as other things for them. He's a man's man that I fully respect.
Ribbie
He also was a great influence on our young starters. He really helped Josh Beckett get his emotions under control and helped him become a much more mature pitcher. He was always on the top step cheering his team mates. He may not have been a media "darling", but he was a source of strength for the team. He said he'd help bring us a championship in '04 and he certainly did!
Next stop...ESPN or Fox. The man was born to give honest opinions. Curt was a breath of fresh air when he came to Boston. It was really cool when "Curt in the car" phoned in to WEEI. At first I don't think they believed it was actually Curt Schilling. The commercial he was in trying to master the Boston accent was priceless. People and the media are always bemoaning the fact that ballplayers never say what they really mean or refuse to talk to the media. Along came Curt and he got criticized for being open and honest. Go figure.
We will miss you Curt. Good luck and keep on blogging!
