My hopes are not up !!

We have drilled and are extracting oodles of oil from the Alaskan North Slope. We built a massive pipeline to get it too the tankers

I don’t recall it lowering gas prices at all…..then or now…..

Bush and Big Oil are all for more drilling in Alaska and at Offshore sites because it will result in production of a lot more oil, and that’s true…

But will it result in lower prices at the gas stations here…..

Past performance says no……

I suspect most of it will be sold to China and other foreign markets, and the CEOs will inflate their golden parachutes and the speculators will manipulate the market and the American consumer will be buying Mopeds

If it is not restricted to domestic use only nothing will change at the pump..

So There…….

I agree completely with your post brewguru. Why should we drill for oil offshore? In Florida, the president's brother fought him on the offshore drilling and won. Now Bush is trying to make it happen again. Florida will still have the right to say no, even if the new push for oil is passed in legislature.

Where do we get the oil ??? down under,IT IS NOT OURS
AND we are useing it....We are the ones useing the oil and what happins when we are out of oil ??????????
Oil IS THERE for this earth, and we use it and we do not replace the oil that we take....
Do you think this earth can replace the oil that we use ?????

Hmmm, other countries can drill off of our coastline bu not us? Makes perfect sense to someone I guess! And those scooters? They will go up quadruple in price, or possibly shrink in size like cereal boxes.

Well, you say Bush and Big Oil. That's fine but know what you're talking about first.

Less than 2 years ago (475 days or so) the Demoncrats took control of congress on the promise they were going to make big changes and have a strong energy policy. They sure the hell have.

In the less than two years that the Demoncrats have had the control of Congress, gas prices have gone up almost $2.00 a gallon.

On the other hand I don't care since the automobile gives me comfort and convenience. When I can't afford gas than I give a shit about prices. Till than I'll happily pay the price.

The REALITY of it is "NEITHER THE DEMOCRATS OR REPUBLICANS" have anything to do with the current fuel prices. It is world wide financial speculators getting "butt rich" real quick. The IDEA that our stupid politicians have any control over the situation is so arrogant and stupidly POLITICAL!! We all know politicians pretend to know every thing and be in charge of every thing. DUH!!.....

Oh but they DO have a hand in it! Don't give the politicians so much credit. It is about the almighty buck!

I live in Houston. My city is booming with jobs because of the oil industry. We are doing what ever we can do to support the economy.
WE NEED MORE REFINERIES!!!!! NO NEW ONES HAVE BEEN BUILT FOR 30 YEARS!!! WE CAN ONLY PROVIDE THE SAME AMOUNT OF GAS WE DID 30 YEARS AGO!!!! How does that heat your house and make your car go??"?
Help us USA!! It takes YEARS to build refineries. Are any in the planning stages anywhere?

I haven't seen any hope for new refineries forever. And with a Democrat Party in control we aren't likely to either.

I’m not a political pundit so I won’t point fingers and assign blame..The point of the post was opening up every acre of land and every stretch of seashore to free rein oil drilling will probably have little or no effect on the prices at the pump…And whatever effect it does have would be at least 10 years off

All or most OPEC countries petroleum industries are nationalized
How much they produce and to whom they sell it are controlled by their governments, so it is not just a commodity, it is a political tool….

Here in our free market society I picture the Oil Men around the table discussing what to do with all their new oil…

Lets flood the local market and cut prices and profits?????

Hell no!!!!, they are used to $4.00 a gallon why shoot ourselves in the foot, besides Opec will probably cut their output then we would have to build more refineries etc etc And the stockholders would be pissed, and the Feds would get less taxes, and the consumer got no way to fight back, and alternative fuels are in political dreamland…Lets let it be…

So There……..
