The Junk Drawer
I believe every one of us has a junk drawer. The last time I opened mine…..
The last time I opened mine, I heard the Holy Spirit whisper in my ear. “This is what some of my people store on the inside of their bodies. The temple that I dwell in!
Staring at the contents, I saw everything from dead batteries to dried up tubes of super glue. The funny thing is when I open the drawer, it is usually to throw something in it rather than take it out. Oh, every now and then, I open it and paw through only to end up getting frustrated, because of not being able to see the forest through the trees. (So to speak) But, what did this have to do with me and what I looked like on the inside?
Little by little, the Lord began to reveal. He was showing me that our minds and body can become junk drawers. We can be full of things that are keeping us from maturing in Christ. All of this stuff causes us clutter, until there is room for no more. Or some of it may even spread from one drawer to another. It was time for me to do an inspection and throw away any junk that had taken up residence within.
I began to allow the Lord to expose some things that could possibly take up space in our lives.
1. Unforgiveness
2. Bitterness
3. Envy
4. Hatred
5. Rejection
6. Jealousy
7. Intimidation
8. Fear
9. Lust
10. Slothfulness
11. Addictions
12. Control
13. Pride
14. Doubt
15. Bad Language
16. Gossip
17. Depression
18. False Doctrine
19. Deceitfulness
20. Anger
21. Selfishness
22. Greed
23. Lies
24. Adultery
25. False accusations
26. Unconfessed sin
The Lord loves us and wants His very best for us. He understands that some of these things have been there a very long time and may be well rooted. But, if we pray and ask Him to help us, He will begin a good work in us. He will be faithful to reveal, deal and heal all of the damage that the junk has caused. He will replace it with all of the fruits of the spirit and continue molding us into His image. So, what do you say? Have you opened your junk drawer lately? Are you ready for some spring cleaning? Are you ready for Jesus to clean you out of the junk and fill you up with His treasures? What do we have to lose? Junk for treasure!
Philippians 1:6
And I am convinced and sure of this very thing, that He Who began a good work in you will continue until the day of Jesus Christ [right up to the time of His return], developing [that good work] and perfecting and bringing it to full completion in you.

Oh, I have a junk drawer.I try to keep it straightened out. But, I cannot alone. Only with the help of the Lord do I even have a chance to clean out that mess!
Thank you so much for that message.

You know what the hardest thing for me is? I will set my mind to clean it out. Before I know it, it is filled back up again. I guess that is why we need to do a daily inspection (in ourselves). I think the hardest one for me is bitterness. I am unable to share in my grandchildren's live because of an angry daughter- in -law. I have to keep turning it over to the Lord daily. I am so hurt. Hut can easily turn to anger and anger to unforgivness to bitterness...on and on it goes....I could not do it without the Lord!
Awesome post. My late mother-in-law had what she called her "hell room." This is the junk drawer out of control.
You know our walk is not daily, it is moment to moment.
Thanks for this great post.

Sis
When I saw the title I wondered what that could do with a Christian site-then you just bowled me over-wow-I was floored by this post..and found that I have so much junk of my ownt to clear out, emotionally, I have a lot of junk in my life that I need to give to God, and I keep rearranging, or hiding at the bottom, hoping it will never come to the suface-and God will only allow this for so long, until he makes you dump out all the comtents and get rid of all the jumk you don't need! Thank you Apple, that post was right on time!
