happens everywhere. they gave themselves such a good retirement plan in Milwaukee county that they all retired and bankrupted the county!
Of course they are giving themselves raises; the cost of living is going up and the only way they won't be impacted by it. Oh... their constituents? Not their problem.
One of many things that should be changed. Who ever heard of being in charge of your own wages--unless you own the company. The voters should be in charge of the wage increases for the state legislators. After all they are working for us.
You do have a say in their raises come election time, vote everyone out of office who voted for a raise.
That means kick every-ONE out of office !!!!!!!!
For many years I have felt that if we held all government employees salaries to the national average salary with the national average amount of benefits, we might actually get some people in office who do their jobs for the people. Maybe we should start petitions and put the idea to the ballet.

Fabulous. Oppy52, I have to look that up! I do know the Roman's had it right. Anyone who "needs power so badly has no business being in power". So, where are our professors who should be in power, instead of the "wiggle his privates" types we have in power now??
