Update - The Run Wild 5K was held here in Houston on July 4th, and I participated in it. At least it wasn't as hot and humid as the Heights 5K in June, which was surprising! That's probably the last race I'll participate in until I do either the half-marathon or the full marathon in Detroit in October. Races are just too hot in Houston during the summer months. I'm posting a few pics from before and after the 5K. Katy Fit is the marathon training program I've been in for 5 or 6 years, and I'm now a coach for the first time for the 2008-2009 season, so I'm posting a photo of some of our Red Group coaches. Katy Fit normally trains for the Houston Marathon which is held every year in January. But, for the first time ever, the marathon is already sold out, so the Katy Fitters will either have a choice of doing the Austin Marathon or the New Orleans Marathon in February. Houston DID increase the number of participants allowed both last year and this year; but, it just isn't enough - evidently, this marathon is just too popular now. The limit is 18,000 participants this year. They will need to change the beginning of the course if more participants are allowed, as the beginning of the route is just not big enough for any more runners and walkers.
