Welcome to the group, BettiAnne. I read your excellent blog about composting. Wonderful information!
Are your begonias indoors or out? Are they bedding begonias or the large-leaved tuberous begonias? Are they potted or in the ground. Are the leaves being skeletonized or is something chewing the leaves from the edges in or is something punching tiny holes in the leaves?

My begonias are out, potted, large leaf, tubular, something punching holes in them.
Excellent questioning.

This is quite probably insect damage. Check the undersides of the leaves for eggs or bugs. If you don't see any, it is probably something with wings that lands, eats and leaves. Repellents you might try would be such things as mixing garlic (mashed or pureed) with water and a few drops of oil (for stickiness) and spray this lightly on the plant. Most bugs avoid garlic. Depending on the bug, marigold foliage in the mix might also be a good repellent. Make sure you strain your mixture through a couple of layers of cheesecloth before you put it into a spray bottle so that you don't clog the sprayer. Keep checking the plant; it is easier to control a pest when you know for sure what you are dealing with.
