Green tips

I subscribe to an e-newsletter called '"Green Living Tips" and I find lots of interesting and useful information in it. I followed a couple of links this morning and found an article on castile soap, which is usually made from olive oil and which is manufactured in a more environmentally friendly way than most soaps. The really nice thing about this soap is that you can use it in place of shampoo, shower gel, dog shampoo, and many other household cleaners. Here is the link to the article about castile soap and there are comments at the end from people about how they use it and where they find it: view link

I've been making soap for years and indeed, it is much better than the store brands. Commercial soaps, which are typically labeled as beauty bars, do not have any glycerin in them. That's why the soaps tend to dry out your skin. Those manufacturers remove the glycerine and use it/or sell it for other purposes. The glycerine is what makes castile and other cold-processed soaps so smooth and creamy. True soap cannot be made without lye, but if it has been cured for the proper amount of time, the lye will lose its potency and the potential for harming your skin. It truly is a multi-purpose soap/cleaner.

I subscribed to Green Living Tips. It's free and they plant a tree for each confirmed subscription.
