Blogger Ettiquette

When do you or do you not go into
someone else’s post and agree or
dis-agree with a post.

Do you jump in with your opposing
view, different view, or do you read
and lurk?

With blogs, mostly I lurk. If the blogger says something profound or interesting, i.e. I agree with him/her, I might make a reply. Unlike with a message board like this, if I disagree with a blogger, I generally just leave it alone. It's their blog and there's something proprietary about that.

If someone were to go into my blog and post something disagreeable about what I wrote, I'd most likely delete the stupid, inbred SOB.

If the poster is a good friend, and I disagree, I have a tendency to just let it go and not respond at all. Other than that, if the topic interests me and/or II feel strongly about it and think I can add something to it, I do. If a friend is being attacked I may also post a reply even if I don't feel strongly about the topic.

There are many groups that I read, but I don't join just to reply.

I agree with xradioguy...A blog is something we write that we feel and no one has to read it if they don't like it..On the message boards, you expect replies, but if you don't like someone's blog, you should just ignore it and move on..It's kinda like their profile ya know..

Some of each….I lurk, I skulk, I ponder.

For blogs my comments are either complimentary or supportive because I think blogs are individual and personal things

For groups with moderators and whip crackers like Michabilly I unload my true feelings and opinions agreeable or not.. I think that’s what the post originator wants… Lots of reactions to what they tossed out to the eclectic crowd…To me its all about ideas and opinions not personal power matches over who is right or wrong, just about who thinks what……
……With which and to whom…..
So There…….

Oops; my bad; my comments were primarily about posts, but the one about friends being attacked in a blog still stands. I rarely comment on blogs unless I really like them and want to post a compliment. If I don't like them or don't really have anything to add, I don't comment. I wouldn't criticize a blog if I didn't like it. A blog is somebody's personal story and unless it's a nasty attack I don't know why anybody would either leave a negative comment, or 'Bust' it.

(For those who don't know, you can 'Boom' a blog just like you can 'Boom' a post. You used to be able to go to the blogs of people that you don't like and 'Bust' the blog, meaning that you were taking away a 'Boom'; I've been told that eons removed the function.

Sometimes I like to jump in and give my 2 cents worth and sometimes I like to lurk. By lurking someone can learn. It is also may mean I agree with the poster or that I simply have nothing to add to the conversation at that time. I heard that it is better to be silent and thought a fool than to open one's mouth and remove all doubt. So before responding it is often best to lurk and see where it is going before responding. I love to play devil's advocate too. It depends on the mood. Some who are a bit extreme are fun to get riled because they don't think but react. Reactionaries usually show their true lack of sense or understanding. They often fail to realize that there are many ways to look at any issue. Sometimes I am just in an argumentative mood and will respond out of being sick and tired of seeing the rantings of someone who makes blanket statements about his perceived opponents. I may actually agree with him but take the opposite view in the post just to get him started. He will generally be exposed for the radical, liar, or nonothing that he really is.

I think everyone's ideas are important, some may be better than others but they are still important. If someone is lying or a "nonothing," who's to say..? Might be a different story if hey are actually in the room with you..
