Tim Russert was one of the first people to predict Obama would be the democrat nominee. Wow...so young "58".

Andrea Mitchell said it best "Tim was the Gold Standard in political journalism." Such a tragedy, he will be missed terribly.
I just saw it posted in another of my groups. I'm in total shock. His family must be devastated.
That is a real loss for the integrity of media coverage. He was one of the broadcasters I most respected. I am deeply saddened.
Tim Russert was one of the few main stream media people I felt was close to
fair and unbiased reporting. He seemed to love what he was doing, and was
an insightful political analyst.
He paid the highest price for his long days and hard work. Right before Fathers Day, too. How terribly sad for his son and his wife.
His voice, his mind, his sense of humor will be very missed.
Vaya Con Dios, Tim. God bless your family and be especially close to them
at this hard time.

Senator Obama on Russert's death
Obama in Columbus, Ohio:
"I’ve known Tim Russert since I first spoke at the convention in 2004. He’s somebody who, over time, I came to consider not only a journalist but a friend. There wasn’t a better interviewer in TV, not a more thoughtful analyst of our politics, and he was also one of the finest men I knew. Somebody who cared about America, cared about the issues, cared about family. I am grief-stricken with the loss and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family. And I hope that, even though Tim is irreplaceable, that the standard that he set in his professional life and his family life are standards that we all carry with us in our own lives."

I heard about this at work, and to a person, everyone was brought to tears. In a strange way, I feel like I've lost a member of the family. He was passionate and generous, as a person and journalist, and the best interviewer in the business. He was tough but always fair and I never missed a Sunday with Meet the Press. I can't even imagine it without him. These are shoes that will never be filled.
Such a deep loss to not only journalism, but to the world. He will be sorely missed.

This is so sad and shocking. He was someone you thought would always be there. He was fair and likeable. Someone I felt I could trust. He worked for us.Who can fill his shoes?
Tim Russert was one of the few media people who didn't try to put a spin on anything. You could learn a lot with his interviews...he had tough questions and he let his guest answer the questions without interrupting. He left it up to the veiwer to decide what to believe.....I'll miss his interviews.
