Fire Aunt Problem

The fire ants have taken over the rased bed where I have my Okra. I have fire ant poison, but do not what to put that on my food source.

An suggestions on how I can get rid of them, other than what I have been doing, drowning them every other day.

HI,
they are getting food from somewhere and using a trail to and from..find the trail they are using away from you okra plants put the poison there where they will have to walk through it it should help get rid of them.

This may be helpful. This topic came up in the Organic Gardening group and this was the site suggested for organic control of fire ants: view link

I've heard of the long term solution by NC State University in which a parasite is being released to attack fire ants. Don't know the progress........
