judy,
you really need to start keeping an accurate and honest record of every single thing you put in your mouth - from water to chips to fruit to pizza. i think once you do this for a week, you'll see where your problem lies. too many carbs and too much fat.
you can change your life and live with diabetes, both on and off medication. but you have to be vigilant and your food intake and your exercise.

Thank you both,Your right so my food diary has to be truthfully,
You came on eons, saying you had to lose weight because of a potential heart problem. That says to me you had a good doctor and medical team that caught what could have so horrible.
You are now taking blood thinners, your bp is monitored. The doctors weigh you in when you wisit. I suspect your cholestorel level is checked.
We have given you many suggested as to how to journal and keep track of every food you eat. Count portions, calorie. Sounds like you have done that.
Furthermore, you have had to work around some chronic physical problems esp. arthritis to get moving so as not to make that worse. I watch your contributions on that site.
We don't judge anybody here. You know we support you and are grateful for your energy. Please be honest with us so we can help you get to the core of problems as we can know them.
Your doctors have more direct medical records of you.
How did the cortisone shot work. Has it lessend the pain in your knee so you can move more.
When I lst visited my new doctor nearly 3 yrs. ago, I had a complete physical, and he ordered stress tests and blood workups.
Is your cup half empty or half full. Looks to me to be half full. You're seeing it half empty.
So many of us in our lives has experienced highly emotional problems. We covered up the pain with the only way we knew--food.
I was up and down throughout my life on so many diets, trying everything from soup to nuts. I'd lose and gain it all back when an emotional problem arose.
You done some strong assessments in listening to the voices and situations of your past that put into a strong emotional disorder. That took courage, and you have begun to let go of those pains that you kept hidden in you for too many years.
Knowing and working with a good medical team who watches and teaches you how to work and deal with your physical and emotional problems is a Godsend.
Knowledge is power.
You might be a bit overwhelmed at first upon the news, but then your doctors or staff will show you how to monitor blood sugar, foods to eat and definite foods to ever have.
I see it as a plus in your journey.
Let us know the results. We're on your side. Many people in our weight groups have either Diabetes A or B and live healthy lives around it.
Get that title out of there--a sad day in history. Rejoice, my friend, you have been given more news about your health.
When we know our physical proplems, we feel better inside and outside.
About 4 yrs ago my cardiologist told me that I was prediabetic. Being me, I made light of it and I was roundly scolded. (imagine a 70 yr old being scolded by a youngster - still smarts!!) I went home and promptly lost 30 pounds. I have not had a problem since. If I can do it, anyone can. I love my sweets but I learned that I have to live with them in moderation, but first I had to learn to live without them. Yesterday, I was told that I may have multiple myeloma but need to see a hematologist for a full workup. This was found incidentally during a workup for osteoporosis!!! Being a nurse I know that isn't a horrible diagnosis but can't help thinking about it all the time and all the possible ramifications. So today is not a good day for me either.
I was so shocked at what they said,This was something I didn't want to happen but we can't control the furture.
I will work with it and control it.It just threw me,My youngest sister had just found out she was.Your right its a good day that they founded out.
I was just upset.
I know how you feel. I was in the same situation you are in when my doctor told me I was Diabetic. He did say that I could control it with diet but that didn't help the fact that I was planning on having eye surgery (cateracts removed)and couldn't because of the diabbetic on my records now. Until I could get that under control, no surgery for me, therefor not driving, reading or feeling sure of what I was even seeing. My eyes were not correctable without the surgery (it was beyond glasses). That on top of high colestoral, back aches, feeling like a slug in general and hiding from the world FINALLY got me to stop putting so much fat and sugar in my mouth and start eating better. It hasn't been easy, and like you I don't like to exercise. That will be my next challenge, but now that I'm doing it, its not so bad, I wake up feeling good about facing the day and don't feel ashamed to put my cloths on and go outside. I have a ways to go, but each day my self esteem gets a little better. I am a Christian and I feel I am finally doing what God has been wanting me to do for many years. He's been nudging me all this time, but when the medical problems came up, I felt he finally had to hit me over the head with a 2 x 4....just kidding I know he would never do that. He did have to wake me up though. I say like one of the others said in their reply to you, if she/we can do it, so can you. It sounds like you have had progress and will continue to have it if you keep on track.
