This weekend in NYC we will be celebrating Puerto Rican Pride. Many musical events, fiestas and the biggest ethnic parade in New York City. Yes I have dusted off my Latin Percussion maracas and am going to enjoy the music in the streets. I only wish this celebration of our people were more focused on our history, our true heroes, our artists, our poets and writers, our ancestors, etc. Unfortunately they only advertise who will be playing in town and in the parade.

I wanted to spread some Puerto Rican love and some facts that may be of interest to some of you. There are many misconceptions of the Puerto Rican people primarily because we are often viewed as Americans by other Latino countries and many know our music, but not our real history or culture. For those who are interested in knowing more about our history, our people, and our delicious food, please view some of my favorite sites below. Enjoy!

QUE VIVA PUERTO RICO!!!!

I use to go to the puertorican parade when I was married. It was fun we stay in a hotel with a large group of puertorricans. We are associated with United States but we are puertorricans.
When my children were young I went with them to La Florida,Orlando to stay. I went to my cousin house but I didn't like it near her house was a hole with green water and inside was a cocodrilo. And nobody cares about the green holes with cocodrilos! At night it was very dark. there was not people outside the houses. Puerto Rico was so different at night we have light, people with their door open and no cocodrilos.
I have 2 newyorican grandchildren in el Bronx N.Y. I like New York. Its always with light and people and no cocodrilos
