Welcome katstatts!
I see you live in Kingman, so you must do a lot of travelling - even getting to Flagstaff is a trip :)
Our projects aren't just in other countries - we have projects in the US too - from unlikely places like the New Jersey shore (Diamondback Terrapins of Barnegat Bay) to Monterey Bay, where we help study sea otters, sharks and rays, to the Tetons, where there's a project on migrating birds.
Your profile says you like horses - we've got a really interesting new expedition to the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where there is a population of wild horses. To keep the population from growing too large for the island they're on, some of the mares are given contraceptives. Jessa Madosky is researching whether the contraceptives affect the behavior of the horses.
I think this is a reallly interesting study for 2 reasons: 1, you get to rough camp on the island with the horses, which sounds wonderful! 2, this same contraceptive is used on zebras and elephants, so it's important to know if it changes behaviors in these social groups of females and their young.
And the photos Jessa sent us are great - check out the foal on our main expedition page: view link
