Finally
After three months of haggling with the city permit office we are starting construction today. It is merely pushing the kitchen out 2 feet into a bay area to accomodate an antique table from my husband's childhood and putting a roof over half of our patio for shade and an outdoor play area for the grandchildren. From the permits office reaction you would think we were taking down precious sequoias for entertainment. We have lived here for 24 years and our cement slab patio we are building on and over has been in for most of those years. It is going to be a long month and a half dealing with a nearly 3 and 1 year old and construction, but with enjoyment there also comes pain.
