What Will Be Said At Your Memorial?

Acts 10:4b
"What is it, Lord?" he asked. The angel answered, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God."
A few years ago my father died. At one point during his memorial service, several family members,fellow Bishops, and friends came forward and spoke about one of their most treasured memories of him. It was very emotional -- there was not a dry eye in the house. I remember thinking that it was too bad my father was not present to hear how much he meant to all of them.
So I wonder how Cornelius felt when an angel of the Lord told him, "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God." In other words, God's most treasured thoughts of Cornelius were his prayers and gifts to the poor. That is so encouraging to me -- to know that God actually hears (and remembers) our prayers and acknowledges our good deeds. Although we can sometimes think our role is small and insignificant in the grand scheme of things, this verse "Your prayers and gifts to the poor have come up as a memorial offering before God," let's me know that God is always watching -- and that what I do matters to Him.

Question;
If your memorial service was today, what would those in attendance (the ones who knew you best) -- say about you? If they were asked to list the top five things you were passionate about, what would they be? How many would be about giving? How many would be related to your faith versus your hobbies or your profession? Cornelius' "prayers and gifts to the poor came up as a memorial offering before God." What is your offering? What would you like it to be? What steps can you take today to change what you are passionate about to more closely fit what matters to Him?
Lets examine ourselves,as the Apostle Paul stated in 2Cor.13:5.

Powerful, you have out done yourself with this posting truly a blessing. It really does not matter what man has to say about me. My concerned lays solely on what would Jesus have to say. I'm trusting that my family and friend's will say one thing about me that I was a women of God and I lived the life of sharing and caring for my fellow man. Powerful my brother, this is really a blessing just yesterday I finished my living well and had it notarized. So that my childre would be able to enjoy my memorial service, it take's the focus off of money and the tangible's
worldly good's left behind. This has been a blessing for me!

So Powerful. God's opinion of me comes first. I would like my Family
and Friends to remember me as a women of God who would give
her last to anyone in need. Who was always there to listen and
give love unconditionally. Thank You So Much for This Blessing.

You are so right-thank you for posting this message-I once saw a message at a funeral-it talked about how you live your life between your dash that really tells what your life is (is 1920-1995), I hope and pray that God has seen me to be a woman who follows Jesus-a true Christian, not just a nominal one-a woman who has made mstakes, but always comes back to Him-I prayit would be said of me that I loved the Lord, gave all I could to the poor, took care of children, and loved all unconditionally. I won't know until I close my eyes for that final time-but I long to hear-"Well done good and faithful servant!"-don't you???
