The Japanese can do it,
Some Americans are doing it,
So...why are we told by the American Auto Manufactures that we can not yet do it and it is probably 10 to 15 years away?
This is like LCD display technology, in the early 90's the Japanese were building LCD TV's, but it was not available here in the US, well not until we had exhausted all of the CRTs (Cathode Ray Tubes for television) that we had stockpiled here in the US.
Now you can buy a LCD TV upto 100" and hang it on your wall.
Do we have a stockpile of something here that is taking priority over our national interest, and that is our economy, or do the oil companies own our politicians and the auto makers?

Yes, I agree we have a stockpile of gasoline automobiles and
lack of a true desire to end this gasoline need we have right now.
The water power is fascinating
