Rev. Hagee vs Rev. Wright

I was listening to an interview on NPR by Terry Gross (Fresh Air) with McCain's spiritual advisor Rev. Hagee. His remarks were radical, to say the least. He said:

--Only Christians can get into heaven with the Rapture which will pluck believers bodily into the clouds.

--We must preserve Israel no matter what because of Biblical prophesy. He heads up a group called CUFI
( Christians United for Israel) He said Isareal should never have given back any of the Gaza strip and America should back up Israel always.

--New Orleans was destroyed by Hurricane Katina because a Gay Pride parade was scheduled there for the Monday immediately after the hurricane hit, and the parade was supposed to some wild orgy, so God destroyed it.

--Politics should be driven by the Bible.

Does McCain agree with his spiritual advisor? Can he be a fair president if it has been drummed into him that politics should be driven by the Bible and foreign policy should be driven by Biblical prophecy?

Why was the Reverend Wright such a big issue, yet McCain's pastor is not? What do you think?

I don't give a rat's ass about either of these damned fools, the two reverends,

AND I am quite sure that EITHER Barack Obama OR McCain givce a rat's ass about religion. They joined their respective churches hunting for votes.

Obama and McCain are far less religious than are G W Bush or the failed, disgraced ex-prez, "Born Again" Jimmy Carter.

And I am sure you know that too.

What I find ludicrous about McCain is not his religion but that he is allegedly very superstitious.

He is alleged to carry with him lucky pennies, quarters, dimes, and all kinds of other metal objects, wherever he goes.

As Jay Leno said, I do not have a problem with that, but the guys behind him at the airport security check will.

I think my question is more about how the press picks and chooses what it is going to shove down our throats. Who is behind their power?

Well, Duh!

Fox is all over Obama with the Rev Wright story because they know he is the likely Dem nominee and they want to weaken him as much as possible, plus this increases the ratings of their shows in the evening. It is not much different than Rush being in bed with Hillary (what a disgusting couple!) for the same reason, and advising reps to vote for her in the primaries.

NPR is die-hard liberal, they could not care less about the ratings, Terri Gross is a fanatical extreme leftie who only wants to discredit the Rep candidate (McCain), and his so-called spirotual advisor Reverend jumped at t he opportunity for free publicity just as Rev Wright jumped, not caring one bit about the damage his stupid appearances did to Obama.

Rev. Wright was such a big issue because in America, Black people are held to a different standard. Only in America are Black men in public office required to be held accountable for what another Black man says.

The whole Obama/Wright situation was ludicrous and embarassing at best. It fed on itself because the itty bitty minds of those "white, blue collar, working-class, uneducated people" who are the most racist segment of the population, love this stuff. They're the ones the media panders too.

And, crest, it's not a question of who owns the media. It's the ones who are in the day-to-day operations of the newsrooms that need to be accountable. They want ratings. And they know how to get it.

In America, it's always productive to play the "race card." Republicans have done it for years. H. Clinton is doing it now. And the media did it with the Wright situation.

And they'll do it again before this is over.

This is going to be an intensely racial campaign. It'll be interesting to see how white people explain all the blatant and raw racialness that's about to hit the fan....especially since a large part of the white population INSISTS that racism in America doesn't exist and that Black people ought to "get over it."

There are moles already looking deeply and carefully into Obama's background and his wife's. White political operatives know how to play the "race card" in its many permutations.

We ought to start a pool on what the next issue will be that the pundits will insist "has nothing to do with race."

Right.

I don't think they are quite the same. The pastor disaster for Obama mostly stems from preaching things like the government planted the aids virus as a means of genocide on blacks. God damn America. Blacks are jailed by American culturisms (sp?).
Hagee is a right wing nut who believes God caused disasters as a form of punishment for whatever he denigrating at the time. Much like Jerry Faldwell. I went to a Catholic school for 10 years. After awhile even we didn't believe God killed every man, woman and child as well as all plant and animal like with a cataclysmic flood and save Noah and who ever bought a ticket in his cruse ship.
One preaches against our country the espouses hate of certain behavior through god. Followers of Wright believe this country is determined to rid itself of their existence. They can do something about that. When God is pissed off at you all your toast.
I think the roots of this country were founded in Christianity. Hence In God We Trust on our money and numerous references to God on most government buildings.
We grew up listening to those things. We did not grow up listening to preachings that the government was out to get us.
