Did you follow your dreams with your occupation: Before you retired if you are now retired.

No I went to work in a factory because that's where the money was back then. Now ofcourse I am doing my womens work, running a business out of my home. I think I am working harder now that I am retired!

I know what you mean Gloria. I am not retired yet, and if the economy does not change I don't think I ever will. But, I sure put in a longer and harder days work than I used to.

My dream occupation when I was growing up was owning a day care. I didn't do that. I worked in a shirt factory because of the money and hours. After the boys got grown, I "fell" into my job as an activity director in long term care. Which, turns out was my dream job. I am retired now. But if I were to have to go back to work it would be as an activity director. I couldn't image being as happy at work as I was working with the "old folks".

Ellen57 that is the keyword, happy with your work. I am not happy in my job. I am going to retire in Sept 09, but I am seriously thinking of moving the date to more like May or June of 09. I am going to pursue other avenues. As for my dream job, I wanted to be a teacher, and ended up here with the feds.

Elle, I think that you would have (and still can) made a great teacher. You semm have the patience of a saint. I sense an aura of clamness about you, and I don't even really know you.

Louiseland. I am not a teacher but I majored in Elementary education. I graduated in education. But I went to work for Justice Department and then on to State Department. Where I am misrable, because I should of stuck to teaching.
This is why I tell people, get a job in what you like doing...............then you will not end up a bitter women, trying to get out of the feds.............like me LOL............

So that is why I mentor..............

I love my job. Didn’t plan on this profession. Actually, it didn’t exist back in the day.

But a friend of mine, quit her high paying job to pursue a teaching job in the intercity. She is soooooooooooooooo happy! We all just wait for dinner on Wednesday’s to hear the lateness stories of joys, disappointments and sometime fright. I think at this age, it is about what makes you happy and fulfilled.
