Misunderstood or Understood?

Which is the greater tragedy - being misunderstood, or being understood all too well?

Having someone understand you better than you understand yourself.

When someone understands you all too well, it makes you uncomfortable.

Being misunderstood can bring on grief and sorrow of a depth that can be overwhelming.

I had to overcome some misunderstandings my ex initiated with my children years ago. It was very painful to be slandered.

In my own experience, being misunderstood, has been the greater tragedy..

For me, being misunderstood has carried the greater pain and tragedy in my life. However, I have just lately been discovering that being profoundly misunderstood has caused me to focus on being more understanding of others. Perhaps being misunderstood isn't the tragedy I thought it was and there is hope for me after all.

Hi Marti,
You certainly know how to push some sensitive buttons, don't you??? hahaha ... well, I have to admit it is a fantastic question as far as I'm concerned. I have wondered the same thing many different times. The fabulous song by Eric Burden and The Animals was probably the germ that grew into the thought for me:

And yes, I'd rather NOT be mis-understood ... as my intentions ARE good! (powerful and wonderful song to have had as an unconscious imprint, don't you think? Thanks Eric & the Animals!!) & was it ... Columbia Gramophone records?

Don't get me wrong ... I'm no Angel (tho I've known a few) ... but I do have the best of intentions even for the people who have disappointed me the most.
