Are These the Worst of Times or the Best of Times?

My newest favorite place to find topics and tidbits that make me think is informZoo, which a friend turned me on to a few weeks ago. They present facts or wisdom without taking sides or being preachy, which allows me to think instead of digest their opinion like so much of the news media is guilty of these days (whether left or right!). It's so refreshing.

For example, last week I read this article, which made me realize how much debt our generation is going to leave behind for our children to deal with. (I do worry about my childrens' future sometimes.)

Then a couple days ago they had this piece, which made me feel more hopeful for the future of the United States economy. If it can just keep growing then maybe things won't be so bad after all.

What do you think about the economic future of the United States?

Hi ShirleyChilde,
I am glad that you find the informZoo site to be without bias. I don't happen to agree, but that's another issue entirely I suppose. The U.S. debt was in pretty good shape after the Clinton administration, wasn't it? WHAT HAPPENED?
In just 8 years the national debt situation has become unbelievable... so what did you expect would happen?
I believe that the economic future of the United States is incontrovertibly connected to foreign policy. We have a whole new opportunity to move forward in our interactions with China which could make the existing national debt insignificant. How is it that our foreign policy has not yet awakened to the reality that China is the only issue?

I agree with everything that you say about the national debt rickydale. I didn't see anything in informZoo that implied that Clinton was in any way responsible for the problem. In fact, I think it just pointed out how bad the problem is and gave some statistics which illustrate this.

I think that right now Obama has the best chance of fixing our foreign policy, which could certainly greatly reduce our military expenditures. That would definitely help with the national debt.

Thank you very much for your response.
Shirley
