Repeat offender criminals

I get so pissed off when you read that a criminal that was apprehended has a rap sheet a mile long and is still out on the street, on bail or parol..
Happend this weekend in Cleveland, A 52 year old was beaten about her head while walking her dog in a city park in one of our suburbs that is realtivialy very safe. Motive was robbery When they found the woman the crimnal had beaten her face and then taken a 10 lb rock and smashed her head .. when found the rock was still sitting on her head.. She is in critical condition, the man who did this had been release from prison only 10 days ago for agrevated robbery.. and had a rap sheet a mile long since he was a teenager, and had been in and out of prison..
Hope he gets the book thrown at him t his time.

Kinda hard to focus on the real bad guys when our legislators are so busy getting votes to pass legislation, and using valuable resources, to keep all the petty drug dealers and other petty criminals behind bars just to make themselves look good.

Too bad the 'three strikes' laws aren't retroactive; that would solve that part of the problem. I think any violent offender who becomes a repeat offender should be incarcerated for life, sort of a two strikes policy for that type of crime.

I was watching a show called 'Parole Board' a few weeks ago and they explained early release with parole. To us it seems like they criminal is just getting a 'free pass' to not complete the whole sentence. However, parole means that they criminal must report to the parole officer, sometimes for years; if they don't, they go back to jail to complete the sentence. Some prisoners who believe that they can do the rest of the time without too much additional stress will not accept parole (they have a choice there) because they don't want to be monitored.

The parole doesn't work for everybody, especially some violent offenders, but it does work for the majority, according to the New Jersey parole board.

I think it should be strike one, you're out with violent offenders, regardless of age. Our society has to do something, what we are doing now is not working. Children have to learn from a very early age that violence absolutely will not be tolerated. The youth of today know they can do almost anything as a minor, and start all over as an adult. The strike one, two, or three rules should start with the first felony, regardless of age. The prisons should be a place that noone would ever, ever want to take a chance on going back to. Our system has is focused on protecting the rights of the criminals, and not on protecting society from them. Supreme court justices have no accountability when they can't be removed.

I will state this right off, this is not going to be a popular comment.

After all these years we continue to incarcerate criminals, it is obvious this is not working for them, or for the general public. Prisons are jungles of life, death, abuse. yet we still have not found a system of corrections that works. We say put them in prison, yet for how long, how many can we build to house a raising population of criminals from petty theft to serial killers. What they didn't know when they went in, they will when they come out. They will be more hardened and more likely to kill without concious.
I know, how do we protect ourselves from these career criminals and repeat offenders?
Why are they letting them out early? A rapist spend less time in jail then a guy selling pot.
Our system is flawed it is not effective, we are actually training these offenders to be our worst nightmares when we send them to prison.
The system its self is part of the problem, we need to find a new way. A better way.
If we don't eventually we will have to be behind bars for our protection and they will be running rampant.

When someone takes a human life or attempts to take one in this case, they should go to prison and stay there.

No once you have taken a life you should forfeit yours. Why should I pay to give you a better life than I have. A eye for a eye. Jail is to easy they need to make it the most miserable place to be and maybe they wouldn't want to go back. Arizona sheriff has the right answer.

You got that right gov..
maybe to reduce the prison population we should... mmm go back to the old cut off the hand of the robber.. or more death penalty sentences, how about.. the old chain gangs or the sledgehammer and the rocks.. hard duty for hard crimnals.

Do NOT put them back in prison, then my tax dollars pay for them to be there. I say if you do something wrong then they should just freeze you and let you out in say 400 yrs. You know like they did in the movie Demolition Man.
