5/12 Assignment #3

First of all, who knew this would be so much fun!!!
The self portraits were amazing and you all know that this was not an easy assignment. ,
So,you should all feel very good about your work.
Just so you all know...I respond to you each of you individually whenever you post your assignment.
Everyone gets their own critique.
There is no absolute deadline.

Before I tell you about the next assignment let's go over a few things that will make our club run smoothly and make it easier to navigate.
PLEASE do not post any photos except for the assignment photos in the message area.
You can place your own personal snaps in the photo section but I will not be critiquing those.
Again ONLY the assignments in the message area from now on, please.

I do want to encourage you to do these assignments because we are going to have an exhibit during the summer and I would like each of you to have a portfolio to display, so stop holding yourselves back and start picking up those cameras.
Take advantage of this very cool opportunity...
As Baba Ram Dass wrote, BE HERE NOW!

Okay, you snappers....
Here is the 3rd assignment:
Take a portrait of your best friend.
Head (or head and shoulders) only.
You must shoot them indoors, using only window light as the light source.
NO FLASH or any other lighting, except window light.
This requires you to really study the way the light falls on a person.
Walk around them, observe, move them a little this way, a little that way.
BUT LOOK and only shoot when you see what you like.
Look at your background, if you don't like it, bring in a background that you like.
(sheet, blanket, painting.......be creative).
If you don't have a best friend, no one will know...shoot the mailman!
Now I really want to see more people doing this.
This assignment will up for the next week.
HAVE FUN!
Miss D.
