RPG

Ok. You have my curiousity going. What is an RPG game. A game you play on-line without needing to purchase and load a game. Do you pay for it? You play with other people? This sounds really interesting. Please tell me all about it.
rpg stand for role playing game and can be any game you take on as role other than your own personality. You can be who ever you want to be but usually means being an adventurer , rogue, magician similiar to the old D&D games.

RPG is short for Role Playing Game. They can be 2D or 3D, first-person or not, stand-alone purchased software, or a free internet browser game. Once you stick MMO in front of it, you get a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game. There are many variations, but in general these games place you in a persistent virtual universe that you share with thousands of other players, and events continue to happen 24/7.

The most popular games tent to focus on character development, as the player advances his/her skills by going on adventures, or quests. My personal preference are the games that are more strategic in nature: Building an empire while making "guns vs. butter" type decisions.

Some of these games can be quite expensive, as they require the payment of a monthly fee. Others are "free", supported by ads placed on the web pages. The themes range from historical, to fantasy, to sci-fi, and just about everything in between. They can also be very addictive! :-)

RPG is a role-playing game, but that covers a wide variety of games. What distinguishes an RPG from other games is that an RPG is focused on a character and its development.

A game that is a real-time strategy (RTS) is not the same. An RTS involves developing a team of characters to develop buildings and fight battles. Examples of RTS games are Starcraft, Warcraft and the Age of Empires series.

Some RPGs are browser-based, like Runescape, so your computer doesn't have to be very powerful to handle it. An early, and still popular, game like Diablo II does not have many demands on your computer. You do have to have a better computer to play the newer MMOs like World of Warcraft and Guild Wars, however.
