Breaking Free

One of the reasons I am having a hard time with this group is because I have been reading the book, "A New Earth, Awakening to Your Life's Purpose" by Eckhart Tolle.
Although this group is a great place to bounce off ideas and to learn from each other, it is also a place that creates the contiuum of pain-body experience.
We are not in the present moment when our pain bodies feed off of each other. We all identify with our pain bodies. If you go out and get a copy of this book, maybe would could discuss it here. I trying to attain more spirituality here. I don't want to make others angry. That would be your ego talking. I want to help others to be more at peace with whatever is going on. I come from a holistic studies background-the cococnut massages, shiatsu, etc.
Because I have been depressed, I am trying to work on me. Then I can help others. I just recommend reading the book.

Invitation to Steal

War Profiteering In Iraq
By William D. Hartung, New America Foundation
Foreign Policy in Focus | May 28, 2008

The awarding of no-bid, cost-plus contracts to private companies, together with the lack of scrutiny of these contracts, has resulted in exorbitant costs of war in Iraq.

The heavy reliance on private contractors to do everything from serving meals and doing laundry to protecting oil pipelines and interrogating prisoners has been a major factor in the immense costs of the Iraq war. By one measure, there may be more employees of private firms and their subcontractors on the ground in Iraq than there are U.S. military personnel.

Buenos Dias Wed July 9

Buenos Dias all – Valley – wow, a rope swing. Fun to be a kid. Recently I got on a rope swing and all the kids were surprised to see an adult to it. Powsharon – Hope that you enjoy your slow day. I would love to get one of those. Valleygril50 you sound like you have many things keeping you busy.

Well, I told everyone about the 50 people screaming at me on Monday. Yesterday my wife was attacked. Instead of calling me to meet her at the bus and walk her home she decided she would walk with the student who arrived on the bus with her. But then remembered she wanted to buy some hamburger and sent the student ahead to the house. I heard the yells from the probably more than 50 people more than a block away.

It is no wonder that laws are not enforced in Colombia. It seems that Colombians have no respect for the rights of another individual and have no manners in terms of how to treat a woman. For that many males to verbally attack a lone female shows a complete lack of respect and manners. For a town mayor to not just allow it, but incite the action is even worse. There is reference on a Colombian blog site to a Colombian man hitting another woman in town because she asked to have the music turned down in the stadium on a Sunday morning. And if I remember correctly that was a day they had it so loud that it was shaking the windows of my house.

Colombian men having a complete lack of respect for women is normal. Several women I have met have husbands who cheat on them and if the woman says anything or complains it always seems to be her fault. While the laws to protect the women in a divorce are there, they are like many other laws in the country, not worth the paper they are written on.

Well, I have classes to prepare for this evening. Wishing everyone a great day.

What would happen in a free market economy?

I see a number of people here with faith in the free market and see any interference as a bad idea or sign of socialism.

Let;s say, poof, we have a free market economy. No more government interference. Companies can trade with whom they want. Farmers can grow what they want. Companies could hire and fire anyone they wanted. Company profits would not receive any particularly higher tax and companies can do whatever they want with the money. Any rules that constrained business, from trade restrictions to OSHA regulations, are gone.

What would happen?
