That's a cute cartoon. Hey, one pound isn't a setback.
What's important is that you recognized right away what may have caused the one pound gain. I see another problem in that your grandkids were there, and your movements and total attention had to be on them.
Furthermore, you posted here because you know that helps you
Sounds like you are weighing yourself daily, as I do.
Lots of professionals say not to, because our weight fluctuates daily, depending on fluid intake, movement during the day, and amt of food.
Weighing myself daily keeps me on target and focused. I don't look at a pound or two up as a setback. Yes, I'd love to see it come down daily, but that's not going to happen if we are doing it healthy.
What I watch carefuly is that I do not go over the 1 or 2 lb
allowance. I consider I have maintained my weight. Anything over that sounds a bell, whistles. Emergency action. Cut back on portions. Log in food more carefully for that day, counting all calories, fats, sugars, etc.
Reread what you like to use as motivation tools.
Happy Mother's Day to a great mom and grandmother
I believe that even though we are losing weight, we don't have to be cut off of everything that we like. When I get the urge to eat potato chips or chips in general. Instead of buying a BIG bag of chips, I just get a small one (single serving) and enjoy each chip a little longer. That happens to me about once a month.
Hope that helps you,
Myron
I have to weight everyday cause of my heart. If I have a weight gain of 3 to 4 lb.s its fluid and I have to take exra fluid med.s
But yes, the small bag idea helped.I keep gpoing back to the files and reading what geri said over and over where we are worth it.That has help me alot.
Ha ha ha ha, I certainly have been weighing myself wrong....that's a great idea.........
Judy, you keep an eye on your weight for medical reasons, but don't you worry that a pound is an actual weight loss set back. A few chips didn't cause a pound to come back. Remember the basis for a pound lost or gained is 3500 calories. It's most likely that pound was fluid. Make sure you are drinking enough water so that your body isn't retaining extra in fear of not having enough. It will do that, you know.
Also, I want you to remember that scales get out of calibration, especially ones that are used constantly. Our body weight naturally fluctuates over the course of the day, as do the conditions around us the effect our weight, from the clothing we are wearing to the barometric pressure outside.
So, if a pound isn't a setback, what is? Oh, giving up on yourself because of that pound, now that would be a setback. But I know you aren't going to do that. What you are doing and the way you are doing it are the right things and you've made the right choices. You're a smart lady and I know you won't let one little pound stop you. An hour earlier or two hours later that day and that pound may not have been there, our weight really can fluctuate that quickly and easily.
