Hillary's Horse

"Tragedy struck the first filly in the Kentucky Derby since 1999, as Eight Belles went down on the track after her second-place finish today, broke two ankles, and was euthanized.

Showing a sisterhood with the female horse, Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-N.Y., during a trip to Louisville this week had said she was going to bet on Eight Belles to win, place, and show.

ABC News' Karen Travers reports that Clinton told supporters in Jeffersonville, Ind., earlier this week, "I hope that everybody will go to the derby on Saturday and place just a little money on the filly for me. I won’t be able to be there this year -- my daughter is going to be there and so she has strict instructions to bet on Eight Belles.""

Now why does the above not seem convincing at all to me. Hillary's BS small talk sharply contrasts with the STATESMANLIKE demeanor of Obama. No surprise Hillary's followers are largely poor and poorly educated while Obama's are affluent and far more higly educated...

No person with half an ounce of brains can believe ONE WORD hillary utters. She has shot herself in the foot with her continuous pretenses to be what she is not, and to have been thru what she clearly Did NOT go thru.

Reminds me of the proverb

"It's better to lose an EYE than your good name"

I was rooting for Eight belles as well just because she was a female. What a tragedy that she died. I don't get your point here. It was a very sad event.

Actually, the people at the Derby are the wealthiest of the wealthy. They are the "horsey set" described in The Great Gatsby.

My wife and I jinxed that horse. I heard big brown had hooves problems and said watch him win the race and break down. My wife was rooting for the filly. the horse owners are the wealthy people, the stable hands and trainers don't make any real money.

My point is that Hillary has shot herself in the foot in this campaign by not sticking to her principles, right or wrong, and not appearing Statesman-like like Obama, but by PANDERING to the masses with silly gimmicks like the puny gas tax relief, by lying and exaggerating her way thru (bosnian snipers etc), and here by pretending she gives a sh-t about Horseraces (and same with many other professional sports and other activities that, in real life, actually both she and I do not give a rat's ass about)

Instead of giving major speeches about the US's problems, she ran a campaign of trivia, folksy BS, etc, which was never her strength. She looks 100%PHONY.

And re your comment, I would never root for some farm animal in a race just because it was a male. (Or a female for that matter.) I'd probably not root for any of the horses running, unless I had bet on one of them.

The only reason Obama hasn't jumped on the puny gas tax relief is becuase he wasn't the first. For all the talking he does about how such an idea is bad, he voted 3 times in the Illinois senate to do just that years ago.
I will admit he does give good speeches ( great speechwriters) but when confronted at a real debate, he's not that much a statesman.
