Obama and the National Anthem

Hot on the heels of his explanation for why he no longer wears a flag pin, presidential candidate Senator Barrack Obama was forced to explain why he doesn't follow protocol when the National Anthem is played.

According to the United States Code, Title 36, Chapter 10, Sec.. 171, During rendition of the national anthem when the flag is displayed, all present except those in uniform are expected to stand at attention facing the flag with the
right hand over the heart. Those in uniform stand and salute.

"As I've said about the flag pin, I don't want to be perceived as taking sides," Obama said. "There are a lot of people in the world to whom the American flag is
a symbol of oppression. And the anthem itself conveys a war-like message. You know, the bombs bursting in air and all. It should be swapped for something less parochial and less bellicose. I like the song 'I'd Like to Teach the World to
Sing.' If that were our anthem, then I might salute it."

It constantly amazes me that there are so many people taken in by this guy. If I were running for president, there is no way I would take such an "unAmerican" stand on such an issue. He really scares me!

He doesn't want to be seen as taking sides? Isn't that statement alone enough to cross his name off the ballot? Who in their right mind would make a statement like that while running for any office, much less president of the United States. The person I want for president damn sure better be on the side of the United States and forsaking all others till death do he/she part! And then some.

The wearing of the pen goes against the preachings of Rev. Wright, and Obama does not want to offend the black community that agrees with Wright. To hell with the rest iof us.

I'm beginning to think he wants to be president of the world-as-he-would-like-it-to-be instead of the US in the world as it really is. We really need a president who sees the world for what it really is and works from there. There's nothing wrong with trying to make the world the way you want it but you have to start with the world the way it is now. And you have to be able to see the world as it really is now.

He really said he would like to change our national anthem to "I'd like to teach the world to sing"? Incredible! I also remember thinking when I read his comment about not wanting to appear to take sides by wearing a flag pin that he was a fool! A man wanting to be president of the USA says he doesn't want to take sides!?!? I certainly pray that his supporters eventually realize that what he and Michelle want to do is turn our country into a socialist paradise. Oh course those same folks probably think that's a good idea. It's a VERY scary vision for me!

"I'd like to teach the world to sing"?What a total and complete idiot!He needs to lay off the Coke(remember the old t.v. ad).I'd like to sing "Kiss him goodbye" to him and his supporters.He is unfit to be in the Senate let alone be President.If we're attacked what's he gonna do break out into a song and dance routine?It's almost funny,and the main stream media let's him get away with this stupidity.He's taking sides alright,just not ours.If he wins,we're all gonna be singing"They're coming to take me away hee hee ha ha".Who's gonna be his veep,the Jackson 5? Or maybe the "Pips". This guy is just nuts.Instead of tax rebate checks, please send a Barf Bag.A symbol of Oppresion? He just urinated on the Graves of men who died for that Flag.He should be deported at once.
