4/30 First assignment
I can't believe we have 30 people in this group already! Thanks for introducing yourselves to me and for posting all of your fantastic photos! I've looked through your postings and photos and I think we are more than ready for the first assignment.
Make sure you have taken a look at my website www.deborahfeingold.com. As you can see I am all about portraiture. So that is what this is all about!
First assignment: SELF PORTRAIT WITHOUT YOU IN THE PICTURE.
So often we take pictures of people forgetting about everything else in the image.
What gives a photograph strength is all elements of the picture.
That is what adds emotional and visual content and makes for a strong image.
So get your cameras out and start to think about what background (environment, props, colors, mood, lighting) says something personal about you.
It is as if we were painting and this is the first layer.
Here is how we are going to post: each person should post their photo (only one! your first editing assignment as well!) in a separate posting.
Do not post in the photo section of the group.
You can tell me briefly about your experience in the first reply.
No one should be commenting on any one else's photos for now, that comes later. You have one week (May 7) to complete the assignment.
I will make a comment on each posted photo by then.
Hint: this is a two part assignment!
