Hello, I'm new to the Tropics of Paradise and I can tell I'm going to enjoy this group. One of my favorite places to visit is the Cayman Islands. The Caribbean is a fantastic place to scuba dive along side the beautiful sea creatures that live deep down. The little bitty neon shrimp, moray eels, and amazing turtles, and more that are just extraordinary. The stunning visibility, tunnels and canyons that pop you out into the blue beside the breathtaking wall; the beautiful coral and sponges are a sight that elegant words cannot describe. I'm hoping that some day I can dive in Bali and the Maldives.

Did you visit Sting Ray Bay while on Grand Cayman? 7 mile beach or Hell...mstyblu. I have been to Grand Cayman a number of times but I am so cheap I just hang around George Town and snorkel just a ways from the pier

I've been to Sting Ray City (at least, that's what they called in back in '95 when I was there). We had a great time and it's not something I'll ever forget. I don't throw my money away either, but there are times when I will spend it on adventures and things I'll maybe never see again.

I have been to alot of places, One place that you do not think of as Tropical, but I do, is Malta. We went in 1992 and while it is near Italy and Greece, it is on the Mediterranian, so the water was ice blue, but warm, clear, clean and full of fish. We stayed on the smaller island, as we had friends there. The main Isle of Malta is quite a port city, with loads of independence and history. If you ever get the opportunity, go, they speak English with ease.

Thanks for the information on Malta, orchidlover. I have a friend who feels the same as you do. I hope to see it before too long! Thanks also for the photos you posted!

Have sailed from Annapolis to Trinadad over multiple trips and Miami to Belize (ambergise)... Love the windwards... Bequia was my favorite with two visits but now there are cruise ships going everywhere it seems... St Croix for the American Virgins is where I had hoped to retire... BVI's is where I have sailed a bnunch with the Bluewater Sailing Team from Chesapeake Sailing in Annapolis... Dinner at the PINTON's on St. Lucia is lovely as you head to Mustique, Union has great Red~Wine and Tobago Cays are a great lay~up and reef diving for Lobster in route to Grenada (twice) as well... But Lying off of Ft. Jefferson in the Gulf and walking the Fort wall real late at night is unbelievable.
Glad to have found this group...

I read a few posts about the Cayman Islands. I lived and worked on Grand Cayman from '86 to '88 at the Treasure Island Resort on Seven Mile Beach. I had the house band in Silvers Nightclub there, "Steve Jarrell & the Sons of the Beach". It was the best gig of my life! My son was born in Georgetown hospital.

I was just wondering if any of the group members remember the resort or maybe visited the club?

I've been to the Caymans several times, but don't remember that club. What a great memory, though! Also...what a great job :-)
