Comparing Colors

MrWhiteCane has encouraged me to share this photo with you guys...and so I do, bashfully. (ok, KIVA...I hear you!! You're saying LOL...Bashful? KC?)

This is a picture of a male cardinal and a male purple finch. I saw the two of them sitting there 'chewing the fat' as we redneck mountain folk say. (honest we say it everyday)...anyway...I think the male cardinal is telling the male purple finch:

'Hey kid...here's a hint..you eat those red berries and you'll get redder like me"

or he could be saying: "Nyah, nyah...I'm redder than you!"

One never knows.

Terrific shot.. I love hearing the Cardinals as the whistle (?) their song bac & forth.. I sometimes join in with them...
LOL part of my aging face are the whistle lines coming about my mouth...

ambersand, just a few months ago KC was where you are now! It just takes the drive to keep taking pictures! This one is a work of art. I boomed it to the Editor's picks. It is well deserved the honors.

Notice the depth of field goes only as deep as the colors and the leading edges of the trees and branches. The splash of colors cross the picture but don't pull your eyes from the subjects. And the rule of thirds is in play. Folks, this is composition!

The only thing missing is the artists name!

Beat you to the Booms MWC... I chose her photo as our Weekly group Icon winner.and Boomed it as well...I have to admit it is perfect and she has come a long way...

Good grief MrWhiteCane...lol...I feel like Steve Urkel (remember him) He'd always say "I did all thaaaaaat?"

That's how I feel with all the compliments. Truth be known, all I did was see a picture worth taken..and that's all the credit I can take.

For all you photographers out there..trust me, I am only learning by trial and error, so don't think you can't do the same. I will always say ..what makes a good photographer and good pictures , I think ...is enjoying the beauty around us and taking the time to look for it.

Ow wow, this is really beautiful, Miss GMAW! I'm sorry I didn't see it sooner. I do believe you have the prettiest birds in your part of the planet. Lovely shot.
