Get your Mother's Day Photos ready!

With Mother's Day right around the corner (May 11), I thought it would be a fun tribute to motherhood for members to post a favorite picture of their mothers. Whether you are fortunate enough to have your mother still with you, or she has passed on, this will be a nice way to honor her. The photo can be an old nostalgic one or a recent favorite and can also be accompanied by a story about the photo if you wish. In addition to or instead of posting a photo of your mother, the mothers in our group might like to post a favorite photo of themselves and their child/children or grandchildren... no strict rules about the pictures, just a fun way for us to celebrate motherhood!

I'll go first.

I've always loved this photo of my mom and my brother taken in 1944. She had to take lots of photos during this time to send to my dad who was overseas fighting in WWII. He wasn't able to see his son until he came home from the war and my brother was three years old.

Wow so very cool AJ....I will see if I can dig one out of my box of pics. My mom has been gone for like 19 years, but she will always be special to me. The one movie I had of her holding my daughter as a baby was erased by my son. Wish I still had that clip, but my memories of her live on....

What a lovely photo. I am not certain still, how to post pictures. My Mother has been gone for about 30 years now, a neighbor of hers shot her in the back of the head, thought she was a burglar he said...In her own yard. But I have lovely memories of her.

Here is one of my three most favorite women. My mother, my wife, and my daughter. It was taken at my parents 50th Anniversary, in August 1997, my mom passed away 3 months later.

Daughters

Sweet Daughter, your childish caresses,
How I love you.
In the circle, Mother - Daughter,
I am glad I have you.
I see you growing, you are a fine young lady,
It's good to know you.
When you are grown with your own family,
I will share you.
It will be hard, but I know,
It is best for you.
so sleep now, and dream your dreams,
for your daughter waits for you.

I think this is a great idea! However, I don't have my pictures posted anywhere but on my computer so can't post them here in this thread. They are on my profile & I did rearrange them so that the pictures of my Mom are first. Then I have a couple of pictures of myself with my children.

My Mom was widowed at the age of 40, left with 3 children. I was the oldest - 20 & my first brother was 14 & the youngest brother had just turned 5. She's never remarried & at 81 still lives alone, drives, takes care of her home & works 2 days a week. She does all this while dealing with rheumatoid arthritis (which for the most part is under control.)

My Mom has been a wonderful example & inspiration for me.

I'm new at this so I hope it works. A picture of my mom and dad and myself...approximately 9 months old.

Woo hoo, that worked so I found one better. I can't remember exactly what age she was in this one.(I think 17) I also posted one on my profile of her at 2. I decided I better not add too many here. :)
