MEDCO MAIL IN PHARMACY

I have been trying for over a year to get Medco to OK 72 Maxalts, like they used to with my last Dr....in which I am entitled to ...a 90 day supply.

After a few years of receiving 72...they cut it in half...sending me a 45 day supply, co-pay 50.00. They would let me order the other half at another 50.00 co-pay. Sneaky yes? Two co-pays instead of one.

So, my Dr. has faxed the new Rx for 72...got the approval, etc. on 4-2-08...called for prior authorization, have done all that was asked....told me to wait till 4-7-08, today, to make sure it got sent out. I call Medco...

Guess what...Medco, (of course), has no idea of what I'm talking about. They have no record of anything. This is the zillionth time this has happened to me. I HATE MEDCO

What can you do...I am stuck between the doctor's office saying they did it....and Medco saying they did not. Medco does not make any calls to doctors...the doctors must call them. I even had a name to refer to that my Dr's office had talked to. They said no one had that name at Medco?

Then I have Medco saying....no, we don't have the RX.Your Doctor needs to send in a new RX. (which they did on 4-2!)

I call the Dr. back...they say they did it. I ask them to do it again, please. Tomorrow is the earliest they can get to it.

In the mean time I am suffering.

What can I do???

Any suggestions...I follow-up, re-follow-up and it still doesn't help?

HELP!

Well, first, do you have to use Medco? I had them for years and they lost two prescriptions. Then I sent one for a pain killer and after two weeks and several calls from me they said they couldn't fill it. I asked them to send it back to me and they said that they couldn't and that I had to go to my doc and get another one. Nope. I called them every day and asked for a supervisor every time and after about eight calls they found the script and sent it back.

I don't use them now.

I hate this company. They mixed up my grandsons meds and instead of sending his ADHD meds they filled it with Pennacillin. Well he happens to be allergic to that But luckily when they came I noticed they looked different and called cvs who said if I bought it in they would tell me what it was. When I found out I broke into tears. What if I had given that to the child. CVS took the bottle, called his doctor and filled it for free for me. I have never used any one other than cvs since. I have even been out of state and gone to one and they have looked in the computer and gave me a five day supply of my allegra because I had an allergy attack on vacation and didnt bring my allegra.
Medco is dangerous. If you dont have to use them I suggest you get with a local pharmacy and let them get to know you and your meds and they will take good care of you and some even deliver now or will mail them to you.

I'm afraid the experience I've had with Medco is the same as the others, my son's insurance has them as the mail in pharmacy and they seem to like to refuse to fill prescriptions and wait for you to call to find out why you haven't received your order. They drive the doctors crazy. My son now just goes to the local pharmacy and gets his prescriptions filled - cost an extra co-pay every three months, but he gets the right medicine. They must have a bunch of underpaid idiots working there. If you wanted you could probably find a state agency that handles complaints - but it probably won't do much good.

As the others have said, if you can, change pharmacies. If you have to use them, send a complaint to your insurance. I just changed from Walgreens to Target because of their $4 a month generics. I was very happy with Walgreens, which will mail your prescription(s) to you but the co-pay cost with Target was very attractive. I hope that you can get some satisfaction in this matter.

I hate MEDCO also. I have had more problems with them the last few years. At one time there was a problem where they did not get the information for a prescription of Liptor even though the doctor had both faxed and called them. I was without Liptor for 2 weeks til they got it straightened out. My doctor said that could be dangerous and had me come in and get samples.
Now they are refusing to allow Allegra D as covered under insurance. These are the only 2 medications I take and feel they are getting a bargain with me and now they refuse Allegra. They refused Allegra last year also but I think some of the movers and shakers in our company objected, but still not available this year. They must not get enough profit on the drug.

Try Costco for your drugs. One drug I was taking for $48.00 a month - was $7.00 at Costco. No membership required.

Start complaining to the INS comissioner for your state.
It's funny how fast things happen when you deal through the Ins comissioner or the federal trade comission.
usually the local DAQ's office can tell you where to complain, What office.

Things really hop when horse power gets involved.
