Joining the Boomer RVer Generation

Just bought our first motorhome, a 1991 Fleetwood Flair 25 footer. Great condition, 37,910 miles and 83 hours on the generator. We took it out over Easter weekend just to make sure everything worked and it did. We camped overnight at Jim and Mary's RV Park on the outskirts of Missoula, Montana, where we live. We also plan an outing for this coming weekend, and will venture a little farther down the road, about 30 miles or so, to another local place, the Jocko Hollow campground. Just $20 a night and it's pretty quiet for camping right now. Pretty cold too, with a HIGH temperature forecast of just 38 degrees for this Saturday. Overnight low will probably be near 20 or so.
We look forward to many weekend outings this summer. I/we have been camping in a tent and sleeping on the ground for soooo many years. We thought it time to try something else. We won't be going up into any "real" backcountry, at least not by Montana standards, but this should be great for campgrounds with services, which is how we have pretty much been camping for the past two or three years now.
We have SO much to learn about the vehicle itself and all the systems; it is pretty intimidating. I can't imagine trying to drive one of those BIG rigs. A twenty-five footer is quite a challenge for a beginner to handle.

I am looking forward to reading posts in this Group and learning a LOT!

Welcome to life on the road. My wife and I started with a gas 35 footer and after a year gratuated to a gas 38 footer. Today we in a 41 foot deisel and love it. We're not full timers, but spend about 5 months a year on the road camping. We love Montana and plan on going back if n ot this year certainly next year.

You are right about motor homes being intimidating at first, but believe me you get used to the size. Enjoy your new life style, You're going to meet a lot of really nice folks out there. All you have to do is say Howdy

"Howdy", and congrats on your new-to-you Fleetwood. I bet it must feel luxorious (sp?)~wish I had spell check)...compared to tent camping!!

We have a 97 Allegro Bus, 35', and are VERY happy with it.

If something comes up you need help with, you're in the right place. As you can see there are lots of wonderful RVer's on here to lend a hand or two.

Have great travels and let us know how things go!

Welcome to the "club" - its a great life, even partime. Just for the fun of it you might take a look at the following
lifeonwheels.com Its a great RV school in Idaho and elsewhere around the USofA ... made a lot of great friends there plus everything you'd ever want to know about the care and feeding of RVs, the lifestyle and where to go.
gypsyjournal.com a great travel site, puts out a newspaper with lots of history and stuff to see and do.
escapees.com a great travel club with access to lots of special interest groups.
Did not mean this to be a commercial, but these resources have helped make our life on wheels fun, safe and economical ... plus we've met a lot of great people along the way.
