08/23/01 1113EST Mornin' JD Sr.

Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home. I'm glad you all came in and helped yourselves this morning and let me sleep...Oh thank you for the coffee, just toast please. Let me get myself together here and I'll finish telling you about the first twenty-four with the Newbie and my lack of sleep.

Well, I finally had to move the big storage shed thingy away from the top of the steps...told you about that. I fed everybody to the gills...bellies full and all seemed content. I am ready to crawl into bed when Newbie starts to howl...Poor feller, I really understood his loneliness and being in a strange place; I felt bad for him. Then the rest of the crew, inside, started to howl and bark along with him. Do you have any idea how loud and deafening the howls and barks of 5 dogs of various sizes can be? Trust me, it boggles the mind! and the brain, and the liver and and and...Everybody finally settled down. I crawled under the covers and then got the giggles. I finally drifted off but I was grinning as I went!

Yesterday went well with Newbie...other that a few growls there were no battles...I make sure that I feed the two males separately and I put any outside food up on the table...nothing to fight over. Spudley still rumbles a little but he's established the pecking order and Newbie goes along with it! I think we are gonna make it. I plan on taking some photos when the sun is out and Newbie is more comfortable with his new place. He is such a beautiful color almost a peachy gold. pink gold? No, a warm and lovely gold...Big brown eyes, curly tail...and Oh my goodness the hair! Except for the tail, he very much resembles a small golden bear! and lordy can he eat!

The telephone guys went up the road yesterday stringing new cable...Wonder if that coating will freeze and crack in the cold winds we have up here on the mountain side? Gonna be interesting to see. If so, I better get the ham unit charged and ready! lolol

Be sure and read DispatchDebbie's post in VNV and WHVV about "the politics of blaming veterans of PSTD". It is well done and I think, very helpful to all vets.

Oh, I apologize for the long posts on some of the groups yesterday. I get lost sometimes when I am copying and pasting things..and forget just where I am.. organization is not one of my strong points...I just wanted to share the funny/serious remarks from the "Military Handbook". Some of the rules are serious words to live by and I am taking them to heart!

I guess that's it for now...I have probably forgotten a dozen things...usually do!

Welcome home all mine, welcome home. Be at ease, rest a while, you are safe here with me...love to all of mine and their loved ones...the emom

I had this message from Emom earlier this morning which may explain why she hasn't posted her News for today:

Everythings ok here except snow is coming down like crazy...ceiling zero, wind blowing and barometer falling and so is temp....just in case I lose power or something...I'm ok and I just got up...coffeeeeeeeeeee!

Huggies all...love you the emom

Our forecast here on the sandbar was for rain, possibly turning to snow in the evening . . . well, it has been sleeting . . . schools closed early . . . can't wait for the snow! NOT! Ugh! Matches my mood since I've been fighting a cold/sinuses thingie for a few days.

Welcome home. dear hearts welcome hom. Get your buns in here and close the door...sheesh it's only 4° out there...thank goodness the wind has died down...the air is dry and I'm getting zapped by static elec! I hate that! The blue light is on the controls for the Heat Pump...I see dollar signs flying right now..lolol

I guess everybody knows that the phone lines were down from 1000 to 1630 hours yesterday..I had elec but no phone, no puter...talk about your basic withdrawal! No communications...aaaachk! It's one thing to choose and quite another to have it done with no warning!

Any how, my great adventure for the day...I drove (read slid) down the mountain. I was heading for the two pumper store to buy some bread and to see about phone. As I was merrily doing the Ky Mountain sled ride, it dawned on me that I had left my money and check book on the counter in the kitchen. Well, ratz! Too late and no place to turn around! Managed to land at bottom all in one piece. Downhill on the snow gravel road wasn't too bad.

Stopped at Anna's and borrowed some money...God love her, she trusts me...visited there for a few then went merrily (read grumpy) on to the store! Got my stuff and the loaf of bread!

Now the drive home...second gear up the mountain .. all the way..started sliding one time and in the worst spot but kept the ol truck steady and made it safely...this old mountain loves me and I love her and definitely respect her moods!

Now, back to some of the stuff I was going to tell you yesterday. I saw the flyboys up there the day before (Wednesday) getting in their air time. Maybe they are playing chess...lots of squares up there. lolol

BG let me know that she is still 'bumping and grinding away' in her physical fitness classes. Hate to say this but I think I lost those two items years ago. lolol I also lost my 'bop'!

Helpful hint...Tie a bright piece of cloth to mail box to get help... stuff note in mailbox...

Another helpful hint: borrowed (read stolen) from the MILITARY MANUAL: If you see a bomb tech running, keep up with him! I like this one a lot! So much in fact, that I am starting to sleep with my tenny pumps on...always be prepared is best motto!

Chris just wrote the most interesting item! Her daughter is in the military also...And Chris' mother served in our armed forces. A third generation military family...Atta girl, Christina! I am so proud of you and yours. Huggies dear heart!

And I see that we have two 'firebrands' at work in VNV and WHVV. Wowser! Atta girl's Hippychick and Dispatch Debbie! Keep up the good work!

KK, my good friend has been under the weather, so she hasn't been posting much...but she should be back in trim soonly. Annie is, well, Annie. Lord only knows what she's been into lately...but I am sure we will find out!

Welcome home dear hearts, welcome...be at ease, relax, enjoy the company of others who have been there. I welcome you with open arms and warm heart...love all of mine...the emom

Here is an interesting summary on a few retirement locations from my friend and TO Nancyj40...enjoy. the emom

Where to live after Retirement

You can live in Phoenix, Arizona where.....

1. You are willing to park 3 blocks away because you found shade.

2. You've experienced condensation on your butt from the hot water in the toilet bowl.

3. You can drive for 4 hours in one direction and never leave town.

4. You have over 100 recipes for Mexican food.

5. You know that 'dry heat' is comparable to what hits you in the face when you open your oven door.

6 The 4 seasons are: tolerable, hot, really hot, and ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!

You can Live in California where...

1. You make over $250,000 and you still can't afford to buy a house.

2. The fastest part of your commute is going down your driveway.

3. You know how to eat an artichoke.

4. You drive your rented Mercedes to your neighborhood block party.

5. When someone asks you how far something is, you tell them how long it will take to get there rather than how many miles away it is.

6. The 4 seasons are: Fire, Flood, Mud, and Drought

You can Live in New York City where...

1. You say 'the city' and expect everyone to know you mean Manhattan.

2. You can get into a four-hour argument about how to get from Columbus Circle to Battery Park, but can't find Wisconsin on a map.

3. You think Central Park is 'nature,'

4. You believe that being able to swear at people in their own language makes you multi-lingual.

5. You've worn out a car horn.

6. You think eye contact is an act of aggression.

You can Live in Minnesota where...

1. You only have four spices: salt, pepper, ketchup, and Tabasco.

2. Halloween costumes fit over parkas.

3. You have more than one recipe for moose.

4. Sexy lingerie is anything flannel with less than eight buttons.

5. The four seasons are: winter, still winter, almost winter, and construction.

You can Live in the Deep South where...

1. You can rent a movie and buy bait in the same store.

2. 'y'all' is singular and 'all y'all' is plural.

3. 'He needed killin'' is a valid defense.

4. Everyone has 2 first names: Billy Bob, Jimmy Bob, Mary Sue, Betty Jean, MARY BETH, etc.

You can live in Colorado where...

1. You carry your $3,000 mountain bike atop your $500 car.

2. You tell your husband to pick up Granola on his way home and he stops at the day care center.

3. A pass does not involve a football or dating.

4. The top of your head is bald, but you still have a pony tail.

You can live in the Midwest where...

1. You've never met any celebrities, but the mayor knows your name.

2. Your idea of a traffic jam is ten cars waiting to pass a tractor.

3. You have had to switch from 'heat' to 'A/C' on the same day.

4. You end sentences with a preposition: 'Where's my coat at?'

5. When asked how your trip was to any exotic place, you say, 'It was different!'

AND You can live in Florida where..

1. You eat dinner at 3:15 in the afternoon.

2. All purchases include a coupon of some kind -- even houses and cars.

3. Everyone can recommend an excellent dermatologist.

4. Road construction never ends anywhere in the state.

5 Cars in front of you are often driven by headless people.

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Come on in, be at ease, you are safe here in my home. Grab some coffee and get something to eat. You are with the many who understand and can relate to your pain. Be comforted and know that you are no longer alone.

Well, we are having a heat wave here. It was above freezing when I let the dogs out and it just might get into the 40's...Wow...the ice is starting to melt around the waterfall on the pond. the Chickyducks are complaining. The dogs are in and out. (There is always a critter on the wrong side of the door) And all is right with my world!

I have been swamped lately on the puter. Unfortunately, I couldn't keep up with all of the groups so I have had to drop some from the news, i.e., CCC and VNV.. I was getting too confused with so many, double posting in some and finding some that I had skipped.
You can always find my blogs though cause this is where I start the day. most of the time...sort of... lol. This is a definite maybe!

I've been playing on IM too...that's kind of neat...a chat box that nobody else can see...

Gonna try to get to the paint brushes today...lol... BG has been 'on' me to get back to painting. well, today seems a good day...the sun is warm and shining. Sky is a little hazy but I hope to see a few clouds and my guys up there again getting in their air time...I love to watch them play...maybe next time I'll come back as a bird! Sounds like fun to me!

Newbie, the big dog has settled in nicely but gee he has an appetite to beat all I've seen...he goes thru a 3 lb coffee can of dried food a day, not counting the other stuff the dogs get. lolol but he is cute and very sweet natured. I guess he has decided that this is an ok place and will stay for a while. He also alerts at night...the inside dogs listen and seem to translate his barks. If they go aroaring I grab pistol and go after them...If they just make a couple of woofs and go back to sleep, so do I...fantastic arrangement.

Let me see here, I always torment KK about her typos...well, sheesh, I made a big one on the Eons Tops page...instead of veterans, I typo'd verterans.
Sorry guys and gals...I do know how to spell most of the time...my fingers seem to have a mind of their own and an outrageous sense of humor...lolol

Wonder if I'll have any hunters today...

Welcome home dear ones, welcome home. Huggies and much love to all of mine and theirs...Go in safety...the emom

Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home. Come on in and set a spell. The sun is up, the temp is rising, beautiful sunrise. I think it's gonna be a purty day. You guys and gals know where every thing is...help selves..Oh, and write a note on the list on the fridge if I'm starting to get low on anything, sugar, cream, you know...butter, whatever. Supplies are all important at base camp ... lolol I'm getting low on coffee? Good grief! Can't let that happen! Looks like I need to make a trip to the store sometime this week...Grumble, mumble hate going to store...50 mile round trip...Sigh, oh well....

Graywolf12 will be posting some of his short stories and poems in WHVV. Thank you dear heart. Lookin' forward to the read.

BG, our traveling physical fitness trainer, found she had a flat tire this week end...It isn't funny but it is...lololol. Never did get the scoop on who changed the flat...Wonder if I ever will....

KK is still bundled in the the bed with cats and puter trying to stay warm and get over the flu...UP child, there's work to be done...You are supposed to keep me out of trouble...lolol

Newbie, BIG dog, has decided the emom is ok. He greets me at the door...Spudley grumbles (he's the jealous type) but doesn't seriously attack now...just keeping the 'pecking order' in line...Spuds is top dog out here.

No hunters yesterday so I didn't have to shoot another hole in the screen. I think that's a good thing!

I've asked to be put back into the line up in VNV. Hey, I'm female! I'm allowed to change my mind.

Let me see here...I did get some work done yesterday...one painting framed and working on framing the Storm Gods at Play...framing a piece at a time...lolol...painting not square. wouldn't fit into frame...I lost patience, temper, religion, mind, and some control...I threw frame on floor, frame went into 4 pieces, so did I. lolol I know better than to do something stupid like that, but I did it anyway!
Not funny but it is and I've got the giggles now.

Back to the female business...lolol...I'm allowed to throw a hissy fit once in a while...Cause I said! I'm a mean lil ol lady remember?

Guess that's it for the day...

Welcome all my dear hearts. Welcome...the emom loves you all...go safely...The in a much better mood emom

A POSSIBLE WIN-WIN SOLUTION

Mornin, all...hugs.

Well, I took a section of the News and forwarded it to Communitygal as a possible solution to our impasse. Might be a win-win situation for all:

"What else...oh yeah...the biggie! The juveniles and younger adults! I have pondered on that for two days now. I think a perfect solution would be for eons to take on the juvies and keep them in a separated section. Then when the younger ones reach the age of 49, transfer them to the older group and still allow them to go back to younger group with some kind of code or something. The youngers would still be kept to themselves...I can see some problems with this in a way but it might be a better solution than just dumping the youngers in with the olders in one fell swoop. The youngers could then supply eons with the needed revenue. The new Betamember site would be the ideal place for the youngers..."

Hang in there everybody...gonna be a rough ride for a little while longer but everyone of us has survived worse. Love to all of you. The emom

Well, it looks like another bad weather day. So, get your buns in here and get something to eat before the elec goes out...that or the phone again! Do you have your rain gear handy...good! I see the winds have swung around to the SSW and the clouds are really traveling...

I keep forgetting to remind everybody...If you want one of your posts deleted, just contact the manager or moderator in that particular group and let them know.

OK, get in here...close the door...Grumble, mumble, didn't get enuf sleep last nite...Dogs barking at wild critters...Coffee's hot...You all know where everything is in here...help self...hmmm! Fresh fruits over there in the bowl...Coffeeeeee!

Aaah yes, wonderful...second cup always makes the difference...well, most of the time.

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Be at ease, you are among the very ones who have been there and understand. You are safe here and I welcome you with open arms and warm heart.

Gee, where to start...yesterday was another wowser. I worked less hours before I retired. But it's been interesting and has really sharpened the old brain! (Believe that and I will be forced to tell you about this gold brick I am selling)

I volunteered to be manager for the group Drawing and Painting. Well, God love em, they accepted me. At least they didn't ride me out of town on a rail...lololol not yet anyway...! No, I've belonged to D&P for quite a while now and they are all good people.. creative as all get out. Thank you, dear ones, for letting me help in this troubled period.

And a shame on me for not mentioning this guy... TCornish is our Veterans Affairs man in two groups, VNV & WHVV, and has been keeping our veterans updated on changes and system improvements in the Veterans Administration. Atta boy, TC...thank you!

Davida53, a fairly new member of VNV, has been posting varied and interesting articles, from funny to informative...be sure and check him out.

Bigthoughts, from RM&F, is another one to read. He likes the old cartoon humor of Willy and Joe...(I hope those names are right, I can't read my own notes).

I sent CommunityGal a bottle of aspirins...Methinks she is going to need it! gotcha! lolol

Marvin, my anonymous buddy from CA, is off playing in the casinos out west somewhere...I sure hope he at least breaks even...he gets really grumpy when he doesn't win or if I don't get a copy of the News out! Sheesh what a grouch! (whisper: he's really a teddy bear tho, but don't tell him I said that)

The sun is up and I do believe it's gonna be a glorious day...Sunrise this morning was spectacular!
Clear blue sky and the kind of whispy clouds they used to call 'mares tails'...all golds and rosy colors.

Guess that's it for the day...maybe...lolol

Welcome home, dear ones, welcome home...There is always a light here to guide you and my door is always open...

Hugs and much love to all of mine...the emom

Welcome dear hearts, welcome. Come on in and set a spell. Everything is hot and ready to eat...how bout them waffles, butter and real home made maple syrup. What? Them don't have no calories. Would these lovely green eyes make somethin' like that up? Oh Yeah! lolol

I have the giggles already this mornin'...Been playing with the printer and trying to transfer a photo to 'my' photos...I finally made it but I have no idea how I did it...lolol Hope it works.

Now, I have to tell you that the gals last nite were talking about picturing me as a real 'mountain woman'. Well, the above photo, Company coming, is a sample of a regular occurance where I live. LoL I was just lucky this critter wasn't in the roadway.

Another thing you see in the mountains are signs stating 'FALLEN ROCKS'! Not falling rocks. Fallen is exactly what they mean! Rocks as big as a house, quite literally, often shear off the mountain side and land in the roadway! Now, if you are traveling at a high rate of speed, come around a blind curve and find a 'house' sitting in the road, you have three choices.

One, you drive to the right, go off the road into a ravine (holler) and drop a good 50 feet and roll the rest of the way to the bottom.

Two, you can drive right into the boulder in the road and come to a very sudden stop...Boulder ain't gonna move or...

Three, you can run into the side of the mountain. This one is the best of the three choices...You will still come to a sudden stop but at least they will find you in a day or two.

I love my mountains...I am so happy here!

This had best be it for today. I still can't figure out how many lines/characters a photo takes up. Maybe one of these days...Nah, that's just wishful thinking on my part...

Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home...the door is always open, the coffee is always fresh and hot and toast is only seconds away.

Huggies and much love to all of mine...the mountain loving emom

Breakfast on the porch this morning...How bout this weather! Can you believe it is 64 at this hour of the morning in February?

Welcome home dear hearts welcome home. Hugs from the emom. Close the gate behind you there... it's the only way to eat in peace. Love my dogs but they can be a real pain sometimes...lolol

Well, let's see...Remind me never to volunteer again! I know better, did it anyway and got into a huge messy battle! Won't go into details but it was a ring-dinger! Garyjames joined the fray and covered my back! I owe you big time, boss man! I won't forget!

A funny from yesterday...per the Boss man, I do much better with guys carrying M-16's than people carrying paints and brushes...lolol I am forced to agree! Statement is too true and very funny! I worked with vets way too long! The attitude is always "let's cut the bull sh*t, and get the job done"

What else...Oh, Newbie is now one of the wrecking crew! He was allowed to play doggy tag with the others yesterday! And I have reached the conclusion that he is not one year old yet. I am finding things all over the yard that he has drug in from the surrounding territory. How bout a purse, a shoe, a pair of sweat pants, an old rag about the size of a sheet, tin cans and plastic bottles? I wish he would be really useful and find a stash of money! Probably be marked stolen bills with my kind of luck...lol Anyway, I did get some of the stuff picked up until it started raining.

LOLOL...still tickled after the chat box session last nite with KK, BG and Annie! Annie did it again! I can't tell you what she said cause it would probably get us banned, not just in Boston, but in the whole USA. You go ANNIE! lolol

More coffeeeee! Ah thank you! Toast? yup, think I will!

I see the fog is starting to roll in...gonna be bad driving thru the lowlands this morning...Sometimes it gets so thick you can't see the front of your car.
Sun is not up yet and the sky is heavy with clouds. I really enjoy setting on the porch when it is raining.
The most calming and peaceful sound I know is the sound of a gentle rain falling on the tin roof...

Welcome home my dear ones, welcome. Be at ease, share and find comfort here among others who have been there and understand.. hugs the emom

Due to very iffy weather conditions, the NEWS will be short and brief...Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home..The emom loves you and gives you warm hugs.

The following was forwarded to me by Mimiandpoppa, the author is unknown.

The Right to Sit at a Desk

Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock , did something not to be forgotten.

On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom.

When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.

Looking around, confused, they asked, 'Ms. Cothren, where're our desks?' She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you can tell me what you have done to earn the right to sit at a desk!'
They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades.'

'No,' she said.

'Maybe it's our behavior.'

She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.'

And so, they came and went, the first period,
second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom.

By early afternoon television news crews had started gathering in Ms. Cothren's classroom to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room.

The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the deskless classroom, Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day no one has been able to tell me just what he/she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom.

Now I am going to tell you.'

At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it.

Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniforms, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall.

By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned.

Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be
good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it.'

This is a true story....

If you can read this - thank a teacher!

If you can read it in English - thank an American soldier!

Thank you Mimpop, dear heart and welcome home to all of mine...Welcome home the emom

Hey there young'uns...Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home! Come on in, foods ready and the coffee is hot! Cooled off some since yesterday and the wind has finally died down.

Ya know, there is an old Chinese saying..."Be careful for what you ask; the gods may grant it!" Well, I asked and the 'gods' granted. Then they followed up with the 'laws of unintended results'. lol I asked for a big dog and received Newbie.

Newbie stayed in last nite, all nite...Now, that might not sound like much but he has always been an outside dog. Not house broken but there were no accidents. He slept in the kitchen all by himself. The rest of the crew were in here in the bedroom. All was quiet when I finally got to sleep early this morning.

I'll give him this, Newbie is a sneaky feller. Sometime over nite, he came back here and stole my fleeced lined boots...the ones I wear all day, every day...and carried them out to the kitchen!

Guess what greated me when I got up this morning? Aw, you guessed! Oh yeah, there were my toasty warm boots on the floor with chunks of boots scattered all over the kitchen! One boot was not touched but the other one has been mangled almost to the unwearable stage...I'll get the box cutter out sometime today and even them up...Me and them boots have spent many years together... Ain't gonna throw them away just yet! My fault it happened...Newbie is a lot younger than I thought and I did leave the boots down where he could get to them! I know better but I did it anyway. Duh, emom!

Another terrible thot comes to mind...if Newbie is that young, he is still growing and wont stop growing until he is two! OMG, I think I am in real trouble here...!

What else is going on...? Oh yeah, I'm gonna set up a CB radio station up here on the mountain side. It will be a mobile unit on a power pack with a copy stick...If the power and the phone lines go out, I can still hook it up to a regular car battery. Then, I get my ham unit programmed and I will be in business. What kind of business, I am not sure yet. I will probably end up monitoring channel 9, the emergency freq, up here too.

Let's see... Dianna made the front page...atta girl Di. Dispatchdebbie has written a couple of very informative articles about dispatcher training for 911 Emergency Dispatchers.

AND TA DAH! KK has added a chat box to The Lighter Side of Oldies Music. A chat box is sort of like IM. Gots to watch KK, BG and Annie go to town on a chat box...lolol I always end up on the floor with the giggles...they do make the most spectacular typos and mis-statements I have ever read.

Hmm...Becky has gotten her frozen pipes replaced and she is moving into her new quarters this week.
El has been out buying and swapping for new goats.
Pogo is getting married this month and I have so much stuff to get done around here.

Welcome home dear ones welcome to mine. Hugs to all of you and much love...go in safety...emom

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home! Come on in for a late breakfast...Everything's hot and ready. Fresh made bisuits, home made jam...all made with NO calories.. Hugs all...get your self served and lets go set on the back porch again. It's a beautiful day, sun shining and just a little bit hazy. You know, if we are lucky, a few clouds may develope and my flyboys will come out to play for a while...

Any body want a dog? How about 6 dogs? How about one dog who takes up the space of 6 and has an appetite like 12? lolol

Last nite late, I heard some strange sounds and thumps issuing from the kitchen. OH OH! I'd better go check...Walked into kitchen...OMG! The thumping sounds were explained by the fact my snake boots were in the middle of the floor instead of by the back door where I usually keep them. The newspaper had been shredded all over and mixed in with a roll of toilet paper and bright red Christmas wrapping paper...Can you say: confetti? When I cleaned up that disaster, I came back to the bedroom...Newbie, who had been looking completely innocent, followed me. Sorry, Newbie, you are guilty by default...the rest of the gang were here in the bedroom, zonked out for the nite.

So, I am back here trying to catch up on things when out of the corner of my eye, I catch a slight motion. Newbie is now trying to steal things from the other end of puter table top...Newbie and I make eye contact...he looks so innocent but the emom knows he is up to no good! and he knows I know! Well, I cracked up...he did a gotcha on the emom! That dog is an imp, a rascal, the terrible twos at their worst! When I got my old comfy nitegown out to get ready for bed, I suddenly had a tug of war on my hands. Oh LOOK! Emom has started a new game! Wowser, lets everybody get in on the action! Now I am in the middle of a doggy game of tag and gotcha! A free for all in the bedroom at midnite! It was so much fun...lolol

Oh, we have a new contributor to the news. Starting this coming Sunday, there will be a special section in the Mountain News. A weekly article of thoughts, ideas and feelings from an uncomplicated man...a very good man by the name of Norsmen. Welcome aboard, dear heart.

And a big hug and lots of thank you's to KK. She down loaded a chat box for the guys/gals in the 911ED group...Thank you dear one...I would say she is a good person, but I won't...lolol Gotcha kk!

Welcome home all of mine...welcome home. Hugs and much love to you and yours...the emom

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home...Get in here, be at ease, grab some coffee and warm up some...Breakfast ain't quite ready yet but there's some rolls and toast to munch on..Oh, sorry... the jelly's in the fridge. There's some apple butter in there too...Would you get that out for me too, please? Thank you...

Don't know if you want to go set on the porch yet or not...Sun ain't up and it's still a little chilly... Maybe after we eat, we can take our coffee out there and watch the sun come up...

Today's edition features our very own NORSMEN as our GUEST COLUMNIST.

TRYING REAL HARD TO ADJUST~by NORSMEN (with permission)

I am a workaholic or was. I spent the last 45 years living to work and I loved the work I was doing. I have always loved a challenge and my job was a challenge. My job title was Maintenance Machinist / Machine Builder. roughly translated means, make new parts for the present machine on the production floor and keep them running (most of which dated to post WWII and some converted war production machines).

The challenge was there were few if any replacement parts available and they lacked modern technology and speed. My Job was Keep them running and retrofit them for modern production schedules. When these machines started costing more to keep running than it cost to replace them, they were moved to the bone yard where they were cannibalized for parts to keep other machines running or to build specialized retrofits for new productions jobs that came into the plant.

This life came to an end on Oct.2, 2007 when the doctors told me that it was time for a career change. I have sever arthritis in my knees, hips, back, shoulders, and hands. I can no longer hold a pencil in my right hand and the left is not far behind.

My new life: to quote an old song and my new motto I AM JUST AN OLD HIPPE TRYING REALY HARD TO ADJUST! I am only 61 and too young to be put out to pasture!!

(Look for another article from NORSMEN in next Sunday's edition..)

Well, guys and gals, Newbie has started to fit in with the crew really well. Yesterday, he was IT in the doggy gotcha tag game out back and I caught him flirting with Big Red...And she, the hussy, smooched him back...Wowser, what a con artist! Do we have a triangle started here? Nah, ain't possible!

Then when I crawled out this morning, I found a trail of destruction from the bedroom doorway to and into the kitchen! Seems like Newbie has a taste for dust pans...he ate mine! The throw rugs in the hall had been rearranged to suit his taste. But, he didn't get to and shred the toilet paper! However, he did take all my nicely arranged 'for company' wash cloths and towels out to the kitchen and played 'scatter me as far as you can!"

Let me see now, I need a rake, a huge trash bag (in which to stuff said Newbie), and time to do an extra load of laundry...How such a rotten dog can look so innocent with those big brown eyes, I don't know...Gives totally new meaning to my philosophy of 'each day a new adventure'! I can't wait (that's a lie!) to see what today will bring...

Wecome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Be at ease, you are safe and I welcome you with open arms and warm heart. Love to all of mine...the emom

Wecome home dear hearts, welcome home.

It seems this old body is worn to a frazzle and I need some down time and R&R. I am going to take a few days off to regroup, recoup and recover.

No problems, just tired...my 'spring backs' are a little rusty...

hugs and much love to you all...the emom

Hey, Emom its good to see you post. I have been way busy and sick. Bad back the beginning of the year, then this cold that was here for 10 days, then went away and came back, On day 7 of it again. Runny, stuffy, congested head.
Hoping the back hangs in there, but starting PT, so that puts me at a ease to try and fix this bad back....last time way too long to be down.
ANyway, miss you all.

Sheesh, it's hard to get back in the swing of things after taking a few days off. I think I like sleeping til noon. Then work a couple of naps into my schedule and I'm in good shape...

Come on in, rotten kids, get in here and warm up! Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Grab some coffee and dig in...Nothing fancy this morning but the eggs are fresh laid, hickory smoked bacon.

Well, lets see here...lots of stuff happening the last few days...

Mimiandpoppa made the front page. Atta boy, mimpop!

Rltnspd is the featured member by Eons this month ...He has also taken over the reins of two of my groups..911 Emergency Dispatchers and Retired military and Feds. Thank you dear heart.

There is info posted in VNV about a Vietnam reunion.

Our sincerest condolences go out to our friend Annie. Her dear mother, Inez Dehart, passed. There is info posted on Chit Chat Chums and a link to send condolences to Annie and her family.

Marvin is going into Eons withdrawal...his puter crashed and has been sent to puter hospital... He will be off line for another week at least. Poor guy. He says he might be able to get puter access at the local library. Hang in there Sweets, this too shall pass!

And finally, I come to Newbie! Oh dear me! He is a terror! He's already taken over guard duty outside and doing a good job of it...not one leaf has trespassed on the property for two days that he hasn't let me know about...He has also eaten two books, a box of cake mix, part of an old down filled pillow and one roll of paper towels! I need sky hooks here! and I am wading through ankle deep feathers here in the bedroom!

Speaking of the sky...My guys and gals were racking up air time again yesterday...Trails all over up there...the sun was behind the mountain and the trails were all golds and reds...somebody did a series of barrel rolls! The winds had caught the pattern and woven it through the straight lines. It was glorious!

Guess that's it for now...Hugs to all of mine...Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home.
Be at ease, relax and have some more coffee...
Go in safety, mine....the emom

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Come on in and set a spell...I'm runnin' a little late this morning...Sorry, bout that but I slept late, had the window open, was toasty warm with the dogs all around me...did have a short fight with Spudley over my pillow rights...Grumble, mumble, darned dog..the emom has no rights...put up with all this nonsense with the critters... and Broom has been no help at all! Broom has been pouting because the weather has been so iffy...She is definitely a fair weather creature...Well, so am I...none of this fly by nite anymore...These old bones are starting to complain if the ride gets too bumpy.

Mimiandpoppa (Mimpop) has started posting a "Thought for the Day" in WHVV...a really good series of ideas and ponderings on how to start the day in a positive mode.

KeenKat49 has posted a list of Natural Highs in CCC and this list certainly hit home with me...I can relate to everyone of them...Good going KK!

And congratulations to Kyfiredawg...He is now a moderator in 911 Emergency Dispatchers...I know he will do a good job! Thanks, Ron, for choosing a very caring man for the position.

Now this is too funny...I have a family of crows that live on the hill behind the house. I swear to you those crows tease and torment the dogs... Big red was barking at side door..."let me out" type barks...I let her out and she runs full tilt towards the one crow...Crow watches, waits, then flies just out of reach...Big R stops, so does crow. Crow about 50 feet from dog...stand off! Dog moves, crow watches, then crow flies up to telephone pole and sits there chuckling to itself... and yes, crows laff and so do I...I also shake my head a lot! lolol

I have a question to ask... how come I have received two (2) pair of handcuffs as gifts? lolol Is somebody trying to tell me something...? Don't answer that, just pondering out loud...lolol.

Worked on a different style of painting last nite...a sort of abstract called Flash of Scarlet... Need to let it dry for a couple of days and then put the final touches on it. Have another one in mind...Blue Streak...I'm on a bagel guys...lolol

Guess that's it for the day...Welcome home, dear ones, welcome home...huggies and much love from the emom

Welcome dear hearts, welcome...come on in...Here! Give me a hug...Aaaah, that is wonderful...Nothing like a warm hug first thing in the morning.

I fixed your favorites again...Waffles with pecans, Maple syrup and butter...oh, and I added blueberry syrup this morning..Wait, wait, don't trample the dogs! More than enuf for everybody...lolol Sheesh!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Now, here, written by our Guest Columnist, Norsmen1, for this Sunday's edition:
"WITHOUT A CAMERA"
"We have a new backyard pet.
A few days ago a male Ringneck Pheasant walked out of the woods and up our drive and went around the house and found the bird feeder. He cleaned up the ground under it and then spent the rest of the setting under the boat catching the sun.
"The next morning I did not see him but I spread some seeds on the ground. He was back before I got in and my coat off. This morning I did not see him until I got back in the house. He come out from under the deck. He then went over to the feeder, ate his fill and went over and is now sitting in the sun under the boat. I hope he stays and brings a girl friend back in the spring." by Norsmen1
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Norsmen1 has these very lovely quiet moments and I always seem to have madness and mayhem going on around here...

Little dogs were out...barking to be let in...bigger dogs wanted out at side door...Ok, no problem there...I open door...out go big dogs, racing down the ramp...little dogs, who must have been on back porch, come along side ramp, legs working overtime to get back into house...Well, the timing was perfect! There was the awfullest collision at the bottom of the ramp! Legs, tails, bodies in a tangled mess...six sets of them! I really must have a cruel streak in me somewhere...lolol...I got so tickled at them and at myself. 0530 hours, beat up night gown and all, I am standing in the open door way, laffing my fool head off! What a way to start the day! More fun!

Gee whiz, Mimiandpoppa really must know somebody important; he's on the home page again.
gotcha mimpop...lol

The Bossman is off playing with some kind of radio thingy for CCC...Hmmm...I wonder how he reads all that puter stuff? I have enuf trouble just sorting out the letters for Engish... I think I gotcha Boss but I ain't sure...lolol

Whims, honey, are you feeling better?...Meems will send Broom to do some nursing if you need some help...anyway, get back on line soon...hugs

Last and least, poor ol Marvin...His puter withdrawal symptoms are growing exponentially! He trudged to the library again yesterday to get to a puter...He sent the emom several messages...lol.. telling me he was 'trying!' to get back on line with his own puter...I'll have to send his puter a get well card...

Welcome home all mine, welcome home! Be at ease, relax, and have some more coffee...You are among friends and the ones who understand. Take you all wx gear with you today..we have wx coming in...just don't know what kind yet...go in safety dear hearts...hugs from the emom

Welcome dear hearts, welcome...Get in here, get warm and grab a cup of coffee! Breakfast is coming right up...Work will wait for a while. I have the BEST news to tell you!

PettyOfficer, my friend Steve, has gotten new hearing aids (state of the art) from the VA! He says he can HEAR sounds now that he hasn't heard in more than 15 years! OMG! Isn't that wonderful news? I am so happy for you, dear heart. When you told me, I cried tears of joy for you...and my ankles got wet this time...huggies dear one, big hugs!

Ya know, this past summer was really hot and dry here in the mountains. I have decided the storm gods, especially the gods of the winds, don't like hot weather...Well, it might not be that cold here this winter but it sure is windy...we had a line of storms come through last nite that really rattled the house. What weather we didn't have last summer, we have certainly gotten this winter. Haven't had a chance to look around outside yet but I just betcha we have more trees down... I have power, phone service and my puter and that's all that counts with me. Have plenty of supplies...coffee, tpaper, cigs and critter food...what more do I need? lolol

Oh dear, I've gots the giggles again! Newbie had a jar of peanut butter out in the hall way...trying to get jar open...this is not the funny part! I made a pbj sammich last nite just before I went to bed...lol Get bread and jelly out of fridge, peanut butter out of cabinet. Fix sammich, just put it on paper towel. Head for bedroom...sit down at puter and find that I have jar of peanut butter in hand...Sammich still in kitchen! I trudge back to kitchen...swap jar for sammich and trundle back to bedroom. That's how come Newbie ended up with the peanut butter this morning. lol Sheesh, I also left my hot coffee in microwave...was still there waiting this morning when I got up...oh well, at least I found my cup!

Still haven't heard from Whims...Get well soon child. The emom needs somebody easy to torment! And Gary, if you have the flu bug, do not feed it! You feel better soon too! huggies to you both. Eat lots of chicken soup...It's good for you!

Took a look at the latest painting...a flash of scarlet..and it doesn't look half bad...Like I said, just a few more touches and it will be finished. Then on to the next one...and the next.

Now, I am off to rake the bedroom floor, the hall and then the kitchen...I didn't think there was anything worse than a year old lab but I was wrong! Newbie has any two labs outdone for leaving a trail of destruction...lolol...I'll be laffing about his antics next year...IF we survive the terrible twos!

Welcome home, dear ones, welcome home...be at ease, relax, you are safe here with ones who understand and have been there...be at peace...and go in safety...huggies and much love from the emom

Welcome home dear ones, welcome home...

Meems was a bad girl last nite. This short version of the News is the result.

I was way up past my bedtime playing the Name Chain game on CCC. Headed for bed and I was asleep before my head hit the pillow.

About an hour later, the dogs started raising a unholy ruckus...somebody or thing was out back down by the creek...Can you say: No sleep...? lol
I just rolled out and am having my first cup of coffeeeee!

Question: what were the little furry critters called in the 3rd Star Wars...the ones that said "yupyup" all the time?

Go in safety all of mine..huggies from the emom

Git your buns in here and close the door! Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home! Wow, did the weather change in a hurry or what...Blowing rain, and 40 degrees...eat thru you, cover diving kind of weather!

I guess I won't be able to see the lunar eclipse tonight...too many clouds rolling in but I can still hope! Lots of links and info in VNV posted by David.

Well, I heard from Marv yesterday...I guess he has parked himself at the nearby library so he can use their puter. lolol Wonder if the library personnel will charge him room and board? Gotcha Marv! Hope you get your own puter back soon...

Almost forgot to thank the ladies who gave me the info on the fuzzy critters from Star Wars...EWOKS!
Still have no idea why I had to know that but I am relieved...lolol Thanks again ladies!

Well, I've gotten down to the surface of the puter table (other end) and now the old swivel rocker is covered up! Hmmm! This house cleaning business is not all it's cracked up to be...lolol...and I still have paintings 'to do' stacked up in the brain/attic. lolol I don't even want to talk about the kitchen! Ladies, why is it that when you start to clean, the kitchen always ends up a total disaster? I have never understood that...It ALWAYS ends up that way...

Yesterday, I had my first experience of seeing a web camera in action! Wowser, I had more fun! I watched the expressions and the body language and it was fantastic! I could see the snow falling and blowing past the windows in the background. Might just have to get one of them lil things eventually...lol altho I don't know if the world is ready for that yet...lolol

Ratz! I just took a sip of coffee and it is the worst! What did I do or not do? Gonna make another pot and pay attention this time...

I am off to play with the dust bunnies again...

Welcome home dear ones, welcome home...huggies and much love to all of mine...the emom

Mornin all mine, welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home! Bigs hugs first thing...!

Oh gee, any body want a dog? Sweet natured, cute, cuddly, active (oh yeah!), helpful (right into a nervous breakdown), good at stealing, good at rearranging the feathers in pillow, excellent at spreading feathers from wall to wall and at eating a pack of cigars! Doesn't eat much (that's a lie). Collects, gathers and drags home leftovers from a dead raccoon! (This is true!) No?...Not even if I pay the shipping? Well Ratz! It is interesting here and very seldom boring! lololol

GOOD NEWS for Cathy1123, my dear frriend...Her medical problem has stabilized and we are celebrating with coffee and chocolate! YES! Way to go, Cathy! Hugs from the emom...

Got an email from Marvin...lolol...poor guy. His puter is still in puter-pital and he is still trekking to the library...Don't know about the room and board yet, but he did mention that he is raising eyebrows and the librarians are starting to look his way... something to do with Playboy?!? Gotcha again Marv. lolol You gots to be careful about what you tell the emom...gots the giggles!

What else? Oh, the painting "Blue Streak" is almost done and the back ground for the next painting in the series is ready to go. I think this one will have a lot of yellow in it.

In a few minutes, have to hit the road and mail a package. There is a little post office at the two pumper store...but it is only open between 0900 and 1000, I think...

Well, dear hearts, I am off and running again...or I should say off and wading thru the pillow feathers!

Welcome home, mine, welcome home...be at ease and go in safety...hugs and much love from the emom

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Come on in and get warm...Food and coffee are hot and ready to enjoy...Be at ease, relax...you are safe here among your companions...The ones who understand...

Would somebody let that darned dog in?...thank you! I have no idea how he does it but when he wants in, he can shake the whole house...It almost sounds like thunder rumbling. What a critter! I heard this sound late last nite...oh oh! now what? He was shredding a roll of paper towels out in the hallway...I swear to you all that he is big enuf to get into everything everywhere! When he stands on hind legs and stretches a little bit he is taller than I am...Well, I wanted a big dog...Remember the old Chinese saying..."Be careful for what you ask; the gods may grant it!" Someday, I might learn to think before I ask but I doubt it!

I mentioned that Whims, a delightfully funny friend, was not feeling well...just found out that she has been in ICU with pneumonia! Been in hosp for a week now...but seems to be doing better...out of ICU and into regular room...and wanting to come home... To any one of her close town friends who might read this, tell her for me that I wish her well. and if she doesn't straighten up and get better, I will send Broom to thump upon her! That ought to scare her! huggies whims, honey...take care. The emom loves you.

Let me see here...Oh, I got a message from Marv, my pal in CA. That poor guy...His puter has been in puter-pitol and is now running around somewhere in the outer reaches of postal land. He has no idea when he will get it back...Sorry, dear heart...keep fingers crossed for you...

Oh yes! Slowpoke and Schwanman, those good looking rotten kids, are featured today in the People section of the front page and in The Lighter Side Of Oldies music. Does this mean I have to be nice to them... Anyway, a big atta boy to both!

The Name Chain Game is continuing to run in CCC. I get so tickled by the running list of names...I misread them especially when I am tired...but that's ok...I go back and reread, then correct my errors.
That's ok...I am old and allowed to make a mistake now and then...lololol

Take care dear hearts, go in safety...the emom loves you all...emom

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Come on in and get warmed up. Help selves to some coffee...Be at ease, relax...you are safe here among friends. Food almost ready...The roads are clear? Good! I was afraid we might still have some bad spots on the shady side of the mountain. Does anybody know if they've finished the bridge repairs on the town road? Well, maybe by next week...lets hope anyway.

Don't know where it came from but I do have a mild headache this morning...Seems to get a little worse as the days go on...Started about three weeks or so ago when I took delivery on a large, no count, peach colored critter named Newbie...who by the way is still growing!

First of all, I received a lovely cyber bouquet from Newbie...an apology for eating the feather pillow. Now as we all know, it doesn't take much for me to get the giffles! (New word=giggle and guffaw) or for me to fall on the floor laffing! Well, I giffled all afternoon about the flowers...

Later in the afternoon yesterday, I heard some strange sounds from the direction of the kitchen! Oh oh...now what?!? I go check! There, with head in corner by back door, stands the monster dog! Now what does he have? What IS that?!? Yuck!

A broken, mangled duck egg is out of control and spreading rapidly across kitchen floor...Cleaned that up... went looking for the source of egg...Aha! Newbie had taken plastic egg bucket from the middle of the kitchen table. He had picked it up and set it on the floor without spilling any. Rooted around in the bucket and broke several eggs before he was able to grab the one I found on the floor in the corner...What a mess...I managed to find 3 unbroken eggs at the bottom of bucket... Mumble grumble...should have named him asperin! I can't wait till he starts to shed!

Received a short emain from Whims...She is out of the hospital and home! She was in hosp ICU with pneumonia for five days and then in step down for another five. Her still has the punies...but she is better...Remember lady, you don't take care of self, I WILL send Broom to keep you in line! hugs honey, get better. The world needs more like you!

And now, I get to my buddy and pal, the KK. She has been fussing for days now about new photo for her profile page...Sheesh! Talk about your pain?!?! ..lol.. Well, she finally had a new one taken...Looks very good and she is a pretty lady...Be sure and read her blog on the trials and tribulations of "What's in a picture." Gotcha KK!

And all remember that on today's date in 1945, the flag was raised on Iwo Jima! A salute to all of ours, past and present...

Welcome home, dear ones, welcome home. Huggies to all of mine...the loves you, emom

Don't anybody talk to me until I'm on my second cup of coffee! Sheesh! KK won't let me say I hate dogs! lol But this mornin' they ain't high on my popularity list! Not nary a one! Grumble, grouse, complain! Get me out of bed at 0130 hours! Why would anybody in their right mind have that many dogs...don't answer that!

What woke me up? My asparagus was freezing! Bedroom window open above bed...34 degrees out side...fan going and covers were gone! Big red decided she wanted the blankets on the floor. Couldn't climb in the bed with me like any ordinary dog would! No, she has to hog all the covers...I roll out. Remake the bed, by this time all the dogs are up. Doing a dancy, dancy...Outside, Mom, Outside! Five out, one in...four in, one out! I finally got them all inside! Everybody went cover diving except Newbie and Piggy...Piggy steals my pillow... Newbie wants on the bed...Spudley says 'no way!' Now I have a rumble going on...I do not like this! But I did get tickled! Giffled all over the place.

Now! Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home!
Second cup of coffee sure is good. Get in here, get warmed up...Spanish omelets today with all the other stuff we usually have...oh, Pancakes today and tomorrow we will have waffles again...that ok?

Did you all see where SanDiegogirl, Slowpoke, and Schwanman made the People's list on the front page? Good going gang...meems is proud of you!

Chit Chat Chums also made the Groups section of the front page for the Name Chain...I get so tickled because at certain times of the day..the posts get out of sequence due to heavy traffic which adds an amount of confusion for the players... but it is fun!

And the following is for all of mine....

GIVEN TIME....

Given time, the most injured can heal.
The bird will fly.
The eagle soar.
And the heart will learn
To sing again.
Given time.

Hugs and much love to all of mine. Welcome home dear hearts welcome home...Be at ease, you are safe here...I welcome you with open arms and warm heart. Thank you for all you have done. the emom

Get in here! Colder than you know what out there! Ice and granular snow covering everything...put your boots on the newpapers over there in the corner...Somebody keep an eye on them please... Oh, it's ok for right now, Newbie is outside...

That dog ate another one of my moccasin's. Different pair this time...now if he had eaten the left one instead of the right, I would have had one unmatching pair to hack around in...could he do that? Oh no! now I two left shoes!

I know you all have seen the 'implosions' of buildings and how neat and tidy they are when they come down. I have decided to lease Newbie to the nearest deconstruction people in the area... He can take apart, off, down, over, under any given site in a third the time! And even gets it off site...puts is right outside my bedroom window (the one with the hole in the screen) with the rest of his 'stash!'...two strange unmatching boots (he must have a shoe fetish), a raggedy sheet, his water bucket which now leaks, his food tray, parts of an unstuffed teddy bear, various and assorted tin cans, and carboard containers, teddy bear stuffing, a pair of sweat pants... This dog is really into recycling! But he will look me in the eye with those lovely large brown eyes and the emom says...the heck with it, he's got more than his share of cute!
And he make me laff a lot! That's got to be worth something...

Had a pack of coyotes out back two nites ago.. they were holding a sing song just below the chickyduck pen...Newbie started singing with them only he was here in the bedroom...that set the other ones off...can you say: deafening? And too funny, all noses pointed straight up...I'm too old for this! lololol Any way, I had to go out and fire a couple of rounds to get the coyotes to move on. They will kill and eat your pets...dogs and cats alike.

YESSSSSS! The Marvin is back in business again! At least I think that's a yesss! Don't have the particulars just yet...but oh yes world, he is back!
I don't know if I am ready for this either!

Hey, Boss man!!!! Daffodils are coming up! That means SPRING is on the way!

Mimpops posts a Thought for the day on WHVV. Be sure to read...Mimpops is our military chaplain, also on WHVV.

Littlejake's birthday was on the 23rd. And no, I didn't forget his birthday...I had already sent him a gift and a best wishes... However, this is a belated Happy Birthday in public...I did manage to lose my scribbled note the other morning..I do that all the time...Happy birthday dear heart, my friend...Carol, keep the boy in line...I know it's a job what with you tending the goats and camels all the time! Gotcha both...wowser, two for the price of one! lol

Oh, sorry about the missing news yesterday...had a minor problem develop and decided I didn't want to get out of bed! Nothing serious...just a mild case of the dizzies! No remarks needed about that, thank you!

Welcome home, my dear ones, welcome home! I welcome you with open arms to a place that is safe.
You are among friends, talk and share, be at home.
Huggies to all of mine and much love...the emom

Mornin' dear hearts, welcome home...Get in here where it is warm and give me a hug! Another grey day looks like ...low ceiling and the sun is hiding again. Must have had more snow overnite too..Yup, road is snow covered. I am snowed in...yes! Maybe I'll be able to get some photos of the Easter flowers (jonquils) in the snow this year. I just looked out the window and it is snowing right now! No wind, just quietly falling snow. The view is magnificent from the mountain side! I don't even mind doing the dishes when it snows. I am warm inside, the dogs are covering floor wall to wall...and all is right with my world.

I seem to be on a creative kick right now...Ideas for paintings and poems falling out of my head. I run around the house now with a small sketch book and pencil...just to jot down my ideas with illegible notes...lolol Trust me the drawings are much easier to decypher than the notes!

Heads up for Veterans...GaryJames has posted "PTSD AND VETERANS" in the VNV group. It is a comprehensive list of contact locations for veterans, especially those suffering from PTSD. Be sure to check it out.

Poor Marvin...He is having more problems again! Can't get his printer to work, something going on with his cook stove, repaired puter is giving him fits. Taint funny but I have to laff at his remarks...Sorry, Marv..
It will either get better or worse...loving words of wisdom from the emom...lolol

Today is bill paying day...grumble...complain...taxes.. sheesh...But, I am snowed in and have plenty for everybody to eat and that counts for something! Even tho I have plenty to keep me busy, there ain't nuthin' like snuggling into an old fashioned feather bed to take a nap on a snowy day. lol

Welcome dear ones, welcome. Warm hugs from the emom...go in safety.

Why would anybody with an ounce of sense have a dog, let alone six? Honest KK meems is trying to behave but I'm not too sure about this one! Two thirty in the mornin! Sheesh! and I was sleeping so sound! Mumble, grouse, rotten critters...as bad as having kids on Christmas morning! Any way, Newbie was at it again in the kitchen!

Wasn't there a book out a long time ago called "This Kitchen, Hallway and Bedroom Condemned" or sumfin like that? Somebody must have been hanging around here lookin in the windows. I don't know where he finds all this stuff...help! I am in serious need of some volunteers!

Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home! If I hear one word about the papers and stuff all over the floor, I will thump upon somebody...Now, where did he find that? I went into the studio last nite...Hmmm...wowser! Oh gee! he got into my clean paint clothes...Have I mentioned recently that I am too old for this nonsense? Wonder if he is part beaver? Take that boy out and turn him loose in the woods for a while and then beat a hasty retreat! With my luck, he'll be home before I can get back there!

TA DAH! I just had a brain storm! I'll ship Newbie out to Marvin...Marv trying to bribe Newbie anyway. Sends Newbie doggy biscuits...Marv, keep up the nonsense and you will find large (and I do mean large!) peach colored dog on your door step! You obviously don't have enuf going on right now! Marv seems to tempt the Fates and that ain't a good idea at this hour of the morning! Now, THAT is a statement of fact. Gotcha rotten kid!

I am totally cracking up...lololol...Anna, my friend, now has a skunk living under the bathroom floor! Anna not too happy with meems...I got hysterical when she told me...lol...Everytime somebody flushes toilet, the skunk reacts in a typical skunk like manner, just a warning shot tho...I am totally on the floor with the giffles...Anna is stuck with the situation for the time being...couldn't happen to a better person tho...she is worse than the emom for gotchas. lolololol

Oh, the clock... I have one of those clocks that tells you everything. It's hanging over the puter desk. Well, every now and then it gets a little off. Yesterday was one of it's off days! Looked up yesterday morning... time was right...temp right...date right...However day was showing as Monday! Hmmm...something wrong with that.
Now, since retirement, I am never quite sure what day of the week it is...I have misplaced as many as two days before. And I certainly don't know the date itself. I rely on my unreliable clock to tell me. Becky and Anna are quite accustomed to me asking what day it is...lolol Just one of the emom's quirks...I am, here in the mountains, known as an eccentric...Oh yeah, you just betcha! Has nothing to do with age...I've always been this way!

Guess that's it for now...go in safety all of mine. Huggies and much love from the up too early emom

I must be out of my ever-loving mind! Dogs! Six! You would think that a 71 year old mountain woman, a survivor, would know better! Obviously not! and the health department commeth! I am standing in the kitchen, what little is left of it, feeding doggy biscuits (dipped in bacon grease) to a rotten, spoiled, rowdy bunch of critters! This is at 0130 hours! I should be in bed! Obviously dogs are lot smarter than the sleepy emom.

Now Marvin has declared war on this nice little ol lady. (Wink, blink, bat lovely innocent looking green eyes). Would I lie to any of you?...he he he he (evil laff). Nah, not the emom!

Now, you see, Marvin is neat and tidy...the emom on the other hand is trying to get a handle on the clutter? In other words, become organized. Will this ever happen? I doubt it. However, back to the war... Since Marvin has been trying to bribe the Newbie dog with doggy biscuits for unknown nefarious purposes , I charmingly offered to visit the Newbie upon the premises of said Marvin for an unspecified amount of time... To give both something to do while I try to repair the disaster area created by the two rascals, Marv and Newbie!...

Now the problem is back in Marvins ball park... he is having a small hissy fit! And, trying to back out by declaring war...Stay tuned for this continuing earth shaking drama! The boy cannot seem to learn not to mess with the emom...I do get even...lolol Gotcha sweets!

Ok, looking at my notes here, I see 'LittleJake' and 'press time' written down...I have no idea what it means nor what I had in mind to say about LJ. and I now have the giggles. Sheesh! Sorry, LJ... Carol, do you remember yesterday? Was there anything specific? Well, maybe it will come to me.

Gossip has it that the KK, the BG and the Annie were romping through the malt shop last nite...giving Napanag a run for his money! Now, there is a four legged critter that ain't too bright! I warned Napa what was coming...does he listen to the emom? I don't think so! You'se is on your own Napa...meems not gonna get in the middle of that...I am female you know! I is setting firmly on the fence here and staying out of the line of fire! Cheering both sides forward! Fanning the flames, so to speak! Yes, I know! Oh the temptations! lololol I sit on my hands a lot too!

I think I best quit while I am slightly ahead of the game! Emphasis on 'slightly'. lolol

A small heads up everybody...guys especially...As I didn't realize yesterday was Sadie Hawkins Day until last evening, I am extending the celebration. Fair warning guys...the emom is on the prowl! lolol Meems can be so dangerous!

Welcome home, dear ones, welcome home...Warm huggies, lots of love, and cascades of laughter. Come in, be at ease, you are safe, mine..the emom

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home! Come on out here on the back porch to have your coffee...It's gonna be a beautiful day, I do believe! Sun is shining over the mountains, a few clouds, and clear blue sky showin'.

Yesterday, when I had the chance, I went out back to just look. It was chilly. I looked up and saw my flyguys having themselves a good time a playin tic tac toe again. Somebody up there had two exes in a row. Big exes! Don't know if he got blocked or not..lolol Wonder how big the circle is? How glorious to be up there playing in the sun! And to get paid for it! I am envious, ya'll hear me?

Well, the emom has done it again! Oh gee! I guess it is get even time for the Marv... He emailed a joke...I read it and didn't get it at all...I reread...still didn't get it! I sent emails to some friends asking, "What am I missing here"? Nobody answered! Hmm, it seems the situation will go unresolved. Six hours later, the light bulb went on...OH! I finally get it! To read the joke and the replies, go to WHVV and visit Annie's Fresh Brewed coffee shop.

Oh dear, I am in real trouble here...Newbie is the best I have ever seen! He knows the toilet paper is in the tub behind the shower doors. He can now get the door open by himself! I headed toward the kitchen and...yup, you guessed it...wall to wall paper again! Please just consider the back half of the house to be doggy play pen and ignore anything which might look out of place.

Off to get more coffee...still not awake...hugs to all of mine and much love...the emom

Hey, all of mine...Welcome home dear hearts, welcome home. Get your buns out here on the porch! Well, it's buffet style, I know.. the sun is shining...the breeze has settled some. It may not last long, but let's enjoy it while the clear skies are showing.

Might be my flyguys will come out to play this morning. I have sure missed seeing the over flights. Nothing except rain and low ceilinged clouds! (I make up words as I go along 'cause I have my very own edition of the English language going.)

Did I ever mention that I have some really strange friends? If I didn't, be advised I do!

Heard from Rainbow...lolol...her last piece of advice before signing off? "Try not to get on anybody's nerves"! Sheesh, Me? Nah! Never happen!

Let's see...Next weirdo must be the Dawg! He and I lived within 20 miles of each other up in Ohio! Didn't know that until yesterday. He has charmingly volunteered to donate two good mousers to my collection of critters and even promised to deliver them to my door step! OK, I can handle that I guess...I think I have kitty food here just in case a hungry critter shows up.

Dawg, bless his little heart, also cracked up when he read the article about the emom missing the joke..that was yesterday too. Only another dispatcher could appreciate the way a fellow dispatcher's mind works.

The weirdo who wrote posted the 'emom missed the joke' article was kind enuf to let me know the whole world thought it hysterical! KK, you are in deeeeep dew dew! People, although she appears to be the nicest person in the world, trust me she ain't. Love her anyway.

Speaking of KK (keenkat49) her done made it BIG TIME!!!!
Her blog, WALK A MILE..., has made the front page! Check it out! I guess I must be nice and say ATTA GIRL, KK!!!
Huggies sweetie...I am so proud of you! Enjoy!

The Boss man won two, count them, TWO poker tourneys this weekend! ATTA BOY, Boss!

The mimpop seems to be recovering nicely from an attack by a nasty bug of some sort. Mimpop, stay in doors for a while, play with puter! Keep you from getting bored!

USAFveteran, Christina, has received some scary news concerning her brother Tom's health. Dear heart, we hear your plea to offer prayers for his recovery. Please all, keep Chris and Tom in your thoughts today...huggies honey, you are not alone.

Hippychick's 91 year old dad is still maintaining but is far from well. Chicky, honey, you are in our thoughts as well.

Welcome home, dear ones, welcome home...be at ease, relax, home away from home here for you. go in safety mine...love and hugs from the emom

Hey kids! Come on in and get dried off. Leave them raincoats out on the porch to drip...Gonna be a nasty wet day around here. Well, I really enjoyed breakfast and coffee on the porch yesterday with ya'll. Sun was out and oh, so warm! Only thing you can do is hang on to them purty days and try to forget about the bad ones. The dogs were out on a high spot, basking in the sun. The wind was playing with the pines and the pines were singing. I am so blessed!

Anyway, welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. You safe here and so welcome. Sit, enjoy the company. Share your thoughts and ideas. For you who have only been here a few times, there are a few rules...no food fights and please don't feed the dogs scraps from the table. Dogs are totally spoiled already. oh yeah!

I saw my flyguys up there dancing in the clear blue. Oh, I'd love to be up there just once. Well, maybe more than once...one time would do it tho.

Now, every one has heard the phrase, "Down and Dirty"! I am sure of it! However, Newbie gives a whole new meaning to it. He plays, gets into, destroys, eats, chews, mangles everything. I have to get down to clean up the scattered remains...Dogs think I have a new game going. They pounce, I scream, defend self mightily. Broom, who pretends to be referee, stands, observes and begins to shake! Broom is supposed to look for fouls. She does but misspells the word and begins looking for fowls. (I know, a tacky pun. I just couldn't resist) lolol

Back to the phrase...I gets down, cleans and gets up dirty. Newbie loves to play! He is the sweetest and most loving critter. He's finally kissed his way into Spudley's good graces. The only problem left between the two appears to be MY bed. Spudley says uh uh in no uncertain terms...Newbie, on the other hand, is very stubborn. Before I know it, Newbie will get a handle on the situation and take up the rest of my body space. I just know I am going to end up on the floor again...I see it coming! lolol

Well, best be off! Lots to do today...The nasty four letter word, work, is involved!

Take care all of mine...go in safety...huggies and much love, the emom

Get in here, rotten kids! Welcome home, my dear ones, welcome home! Coffee's hot, everything is on the table. Dig in and help selves. Blue berry muffins, pancakes and syrup all ready to go! I seem to be oversupplied today with blueberries but it is all yummy stuff. Warm ya'll up right away.

Let me get the bad out of the way first. I spent a lot of time contacting IPs yesterday. My Spam Bot status remains secure! My brain was totally fried after 10 minutes. Two things here...Brain is small to non-existant and I know beans about puter lingo. I can speak a rare form of American (my own that I make up as I go along), some legalese and absolutely no puterese! Ask me a puterese question and I am totally at sea!

I have had some great help from my new friend, the Owl. He is much like my son, Glen, tho. A great sense of humor and extremely patient with this mean lil ol lady. Thank you dear heart for the help..I DO need it.

Hey, Kyfiredawg! Ya made it big time today...the dawg is feature on the front page! hmm...I am beginning to wonder if these front page features aren't some type of wanted poster for the cyber world...Meems gonna' think about this idea for a while...lots of my friends been showing up there!

Happy Birthday, you good looking hunk, BigMex. Many, many more to you...may they all be very happy! huggies to you and yours...

Meems has decided to run away from home! Move..leave no forwarding..have body transplant..dye hair coppery red.. face lift..will lose 50 lbs in body transplant..non list phone..and whatever else I must do to escape my friends and dogs!

Now, I have mentioned I am on a creative roll and I am.
Paintings, love poems, what else? Well anyway, I decided to post a "mushy" romantic poem in WHVV...I am getting a serious case of the giffles here! I type up the post with reference to poem being in reply. Went to second page to enter the poem, which I did. I entered poem after checking for typos. I go back to front page of WHVV to check that everything was entered properly there. lololol Apparently, Chris and Glenys both found the original post at or about the same time while I was typing in the poem! From the scattered debris I found, it must have been a mid air collision...Their responses were posted before I could get my entry done! Go to second page now and you will see two obviously shocked individuals posting their "where???" and my lovely poem in third in line! Good Going Ladies! roflmao!

And last but not least, DOG! You'll never guess which one! Aw, you guessed! Newbie is so sweet and innocent looking! He really is! However, while I was playing with IP's I heard paper rattling...there went the weekly paper! Then I hear another sound...Newbie is chewing the corner of my puter table...finally, I hear another strange sound coming from the same general area..Newbie has finished off a V8 bottle. I am packing and getting ready to leave at any moment!

Hey all mine...enjoy the day...spring is coming...meems is on a roll...and my guys and gals are up there playing in the clouds already..gonna be a purty day!

Go in safety dear hearts...hugs and much love from the very happy with her life emom

Sheesh, get in here...hang your coats over there.. How did ya'all get up here with all the snow and ice? And you started out at what time this morning? Gee whiz! Isn't this supposed to be the front end of spring? Blowing snow, winds just a swirling...Meems is gonna have a serious talk with the 'storm gods'... Meems has had enuf! Yeah, like they'll pay attention to me anyway!

Don't forget to update my email(url)address. emom101@ prtcnet.org Until I can get the rest of the mess straightened out, I must use care when responding to any emails...If anyone has yahoo IM, I can be reached at evilmom68@yahoo.com If there is a private matter to be discussed, I suggest you try the IM. It works great for me.

Let me see here...KK and BritGal have switched places on the Lighter Side. KK is now manager, Britgal is moderator. and I am in serious trouble! I have so many 'gotchas' ahead on the KK...and I see paybacks heading my way big time! Congrats! Brat! oopsy...did it again.

GaryJames has opened a new group on Eons called the ROAD TRIP. Kind a neat..A sight seeing tour of beautiful places with a bit of history thrown in. Check it out..I enjoyed the descriptions and especially, the well done photos.

Newbie and big red are out romping in the snow. They were grinning, tongues hanging out, tails standing tall! Galloping thru the back yard! I whistled for them a while ago...Select hearing just went into full effect! Did they hear me whistling and calling? Absolutely! Did they pay any attention? Absolutely not! The rest of the clan are in here...working on their cover diving. Cover diving sounds like a good idea to me!

A tip for the day for country living:Pour a little ammonia in the trash bag before you tie it shut. It keeps the critters out. However, it doesn't work on spam!

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Don't pay any attention to me when I am fussing about stuff. I am for the most part harmless...wowser, I think I just told a whopper!

Any way, dear hearts, all of mine, go in safety.. huggies
and much love...the emom

Welcome home, dear hearts, welcome home. Git on in here and make self at home..Go over and sit by the heater. Now that I have moved that big cabinet out of the way, there's lots more room in front of the heater. Man, is it ever cold out there, or what? Did you see the cardinals out on the porch on your way in? Aren't they beautiful against the white snow?

The world is wrapped in white velvet...
Cold, but inviting.
So quiet...the snow falls.
Even critters in the woods
are awed by the silence.

I guess I could grumble about the snow and cold at this time of the year but I'm not. It was a beautiful snow fall and it is a magnificent morning. The sun is up; the snow is sparkling and I am quite content. When I look out the window I can see all the play tracks big dogs made yesterday. lolol There were huge loops and circles. I should have gone out to play with them and made some snow angels! The last time I made snow angels, I was black and blue when I was done..Dogs enjoyed bouncing on the emom while the emom squalled OFF. Ruined snow angels I had made..the emom came out a little worse for wear also..But it was fun! My laffter echoed off the hillsides...and bounced up the holler. Did you know dogs laff too? Well, they do...and they grin!

Speaking of the dogs, Newbie did it again...I now have an old kitchen chair in here that needs to go to the burning pile...Newbie, ate part of one leg and a whole stretcher! Bye bye chair. Can't complain too much tho, he hasn't eaten anything else the last couple of days. Poor feller, him gets busted all the time but he takes it in stride, licks the emom's hand and goes merrily on his way...

Before I forget again, Grimbear and Ozarkreader celebrated another birthday...Happy birthday my dear friends...I wish you many, many more!

Now I am starting to get a little nervous, not worried yet, but the thought is hanging in the back of my mind! KK and Napanag are planning a conspiracy against the emom! Pay me back for all my 'gotchas' lololol...We'll just see about this.. and the Boss man has an agenda of his own going...What have I done to deserve this malpractice? Don't answer that! Really, I am a nice person when forced! Would these lovely green eyes lie, exaggerate, make up things, falsify? Absolutely! lolol

Later all of mine...hugs and much love...go in safety, the emom
