Calories in Easter Candy

I just read this article about calories in various kinds of Easter candy -- I would like to summarize the results, and then since this is an advice column, ask my question at the end:

Peeps:

4 peeps = 130 calories. They are fat-free but high carb - 8 grams of sugar alone, adding up to 32 grams in a serving of four.

Jelly Beans:

Each individual bean is only around 5 or 6 calories.
The recommended 35-bean serving = 140 calories from 37 grams of sugar.

Cadbury Chocolate Eggs:

12 eggs = 190 calories and 8 grams of fat.

Cadbury Creme Egg:

The 1.2-ounce egg = 150 calories, 5 grams of fat and 25 grams of carbs.

Reese's Peanut Butter Egg:

All three varieties -- milk chocolate, fudge and white chocolate--have a calorie count of 180.
The fat content is 10 grams, double that of the Cadbury Creme Egg, with the white-chocolate egg the worst, at 11 grams.

Hershey's Hollow Milk Chocolate Egg:

One hollow Hershey's egg (4.65 ounces)= 570 calories.
Eat the four Hershey's kisses included inside and you're up to 660 calories and 41 grams of fat.

Large Chocolate Bunny:

The average seven-ounce rabbit = 1,050 calories
Smaller one-ounce bunnies = 140 calories

---------------------------------------- -----

What I want to know is --

Since I am supposed to be dieting (sorta kinda), what do you recommend as the best way to eat all the candy that I intend to on Easter and not feel guilt about it?

first of all...i would suggest not re-reading that article...it is a well known fact that there are several calorie guilt free (sorta kinda) days each year... :)...and you can pick and choose yours freely...just don't over exceed your limit...chocolate bunny ears and jelly beans are always freebies!...throw any leftover candy out on monday...enjoy yourself sunday!...

Hey, if you're going to eat it and you know you're going to eat it, throw away the guilt, it's not worth it. Guilt is a waste of energy. Now, that the guilt thing has been dealt with, there are no guarantees on you not waking up with a stomach ache!

Thanks for the replies -- I decided to get a head start and not wait till Sunday -- my daughter just came home with some chocolate eggs and how could I say no? LOL

karen, if your daughter went to all that trouble to bring you chocolate eggs, it would be rude not to eat them.....
feel better?
besides, I don't really think there is any truth in the labeling of candy...I think it is a conspiracy to close down candy factories.....lol

Isn't Sunday supposed to be a day of rest? Dieting is a lot of work, so rest!
