COPING WITH DIABETES

Is Now Open To All Ages.

This Group deals with Coping with the disease itself.
Your personal stories.
What happened to you and how did you handle various stages of the disease.
What to look for, how you deal with the disease.
We also ask that you go ahead and vent - let us all know how you feel and how you felt at various stages.

Your venting helps us. Humor is also welcome - we're alive, not dead!
Diabetes doesn't care who you are.
It doesn't care if you are rich poor, man, woman or child.
It also doesn't care where in the world you live.
Diabetes can and does strike more and more everyday.

Greetings, I'm new to your group, but not new to diabetes. I'm a T-2 controlling using diet, exercise, (continued weight loss/muscle building), using fortamet and byetta. I'm hoping, to eventually be off all meds and maintain with diet and exercise, but that is a ways off.

I'm on an intensive diabetes list on the net and generally a follower of Bernstein's method - although it is pretty rigorous and I am finding a need for increased carbs as my body changes with the weight training and building more muscle mass.

Since diagnosis a few years back I've lost quite a bit of weight and done a major lifestyle change regarding activity. I need to lose more weight and get still more active, but I have a two year plan to accomplish this.

My ideal BG is around 85 mg/dl, but its been awhile since I've been in that range. When I got into intensive weight training and cardio work I found that my levels have been higher - which seems nonsensical. Probably has to do with hormones in the gut. (shrug). My doctors are happy, I'm the one who is irritated I can't get down to a baseline of normal on the HbA1c.
