Well now

i admire you guys so much, wd, ao, mlo. i am making progress but not there yet. i have been unable to breathe, with so much pain in my chest since hospital visit over new years. dr. keeps trying different medication, nothing works. i couldn't go to gym yesterday morning because i couldn't breathe. i've been spending much of my time on couch, slathered in Vicks, using inhaler, cough syrup, everything. over and over again.

it finally came to me yesterday. i had this problem once before, and it turned out to be a med...a side effect. dr. took me off that med and my chest cleared up. so after the fires, after the hospital, after the virus everything was better except this chest problem, and it dawned on me it could be a med again.

well, it is. some kind of blood pressure med they prescribed at the hospital in jan. and my dr. advised me to continue. my blood pressure has been great but this doesn't mean much if you can't breathe. i thought in my mind about all the meds i have to take (about 15 pills a day) and realized the only new one was this blood pressure pill, so pretty much was thinking that perhaps this has been causing my chest problem. (i have been asthmatic all my life, so the medical people always think its related to that.)

yesterday i was at my corner pharmacy, a little family store i have gone to for years, they know me: i am making them rich, of course. when they asked how i was doing i told them about this chest problem i've had for many months, they said, "are you on any blood pressure med?" yes, the one prescribed by the hospital in jan. i gave the name and was told the chest problem is a side effect of this particular med. so finally got it figured out, but it took two months, and still can't breathe right now as i type. it's a beautiful day outside but i have to go lie down just to breathe.

anyway, i stopped this pill yesterday and will see my dr. on tues. to learn if there's something that does not have the side effect (the pharmacy said there is). so hopefully my chest will clear up and this will be the last thing for awhile and i can get back on the treadmill.

oh, it's all from my blood, which is too thick. starting at age 50 i had stroke, thrombosis, pulmonary embolism...that kind of thing. managing the medications becomes difficult at times.

I also wear glasses.

Thanks for telling me. I hope we can get to know each other more as you convalesce. I think I spelled that right.
