Amen! And stay away from home equity loans too. Use the internet to sell stuff like those guns at the highest possible gain.
God helps those who help themselves. It's no sin to reach out to others for emotional support and networking for jobs. Church can be good, but so can volunteering.
In the original thread, several folks suggested work you can do on the side with small or no startup costs -- pet sitting, dog walking, tutoring, selling used books.
You've obviously struck quite a chord with a lot of us here. We all wish you well and hope that at least one suggestion works as a catalyst for you. From my personal perspective, life is often scary, but it is also beautiful, and the rewards and lessons are are not always obvious unless I am paying attention.
Our best wishes to you!
Religion has no place on WPMO. Take it to the religious group or send her a PM. One mans meat is another mans poison.
Here's another desperation tip. NEVER go to one of those companies that say they can reduce your credit card debt. In many cases, they can't, and while they are jerking you around, your creditors are planning their next moves including legal action. Plus, even though they say that your credit in many cases is not affected, that's a total lie. As soon as your first creditor finds out that you are using one of these companies, you will see your credit score drop by as much as 100 points.
A friend of mine did this and later found out that this company was charging her thousands of dollars for something that she could have done herself for free! If you have creditors, like credit cards, start calling and writing them asking for reduction in interest and smaller payments. If you have penalties, ask them to removed them. If they are resistant, tell them that you understand that they want the maximum payments but, unfortunately, if you can't get your creditors to work with you, you will be forced into bankruptcy and you are doing everything you can to 'do the right thing' and pay them instead of taking that drastic measure.
It worked for her. She has four creditors and each of them removed the penalties, lowered both interest and payments, but only AFTER she fired the company that was 'helping' her. I think the name of the company was something like 'Credit Solutions'. Thieves; all of them; preying on people who are already heading for poverty.
I agree with staying away from pay-day loans! Bad news everytime and in my personal opinion they should be outlawed!
For IamwhoIam: Your remarks were uncalled for and when advice is given it is up to the person receiving it to decide what to do with it! And did I miss the rule on this group that God's name should not be mentioned?
Payday loans is legalized extortion.
Don't worry-I am not about to take out a loan from those pay-day loan creeps. I do have a little bit of sense. hee hee. Not much, but I do know cons when I see them. I am just hanging in there--my original post was just one of those things I had to do to get things off my chest. I still don't know what I am going to do yet, but...it won't be anything stupid. I do have an interview on Monday--yippee! I have been online all morning job searching and applying. That saves so much gas money--especially since it is now over $3.00 a gallon---grrrrrrrrrrrrrr! Thanks for everyone's opinions--some are really helpful.
Part of my problem is a serotonin imbalance I have had since childhood and these gray, gloomy days added on top of all the other stuff just made me lose it for a while. Depression is not a good thing to have. I know I will feel better once I have a little security in my life and the antidepressant does help some. I just hate to have to rely on meds to get through my life.
Again, I really do appreciate everyone's concern--that in itself makes me feel better. I know I am not the only one going through this and many of you have been through worse---I see that you all made it through and so can I.
Have a great weekend--our 10 inches of snow is melting and I want to build a snowman before it all goes--ha ha

Here's a little known piece of information - most of the credit consolidation companies are owned by the credit card companies - that should tell you how much they really want to help you.
pinkroses67 you stated, rather dumb statement at that:" For IamwhoIam: Your remarks were uncalled for and when advice is given it is up to the person receiving it to decide what to do with it! And did I miss the rule on this group that God's name should not be mentioned?"
When posted in the open it is open for a reply, so my reply is called for even tho you dislike it.
And by the way the word, "god," is not a name. It is word that people can throw around for use in a make belief world.
The very fact that you disagree with me,is an admission on your part that you are wrong and I am right.
For people that have a hard time believing in a higher power,GOD stands for Good Orderly Direction, which will work just fine in a pinch! When on the horns of a dilemma, the best thing you can do, is to stay calm!

Right loko--everyone just chill! I appreciate what you all have been saying but...people I never meant to start such a controversy--I was merely expressing myself. I'm sorry.
