Might I say misguided people who choose to make comments haven’t got clue how to wipe their ass with toilet paper. People placing blame on victims resulting from any from of Disaster is nothing more then a total idiot.
To Whom It May Concern:
There's been so much shit blamed on Katrina and a lot not even related so would you like to blame anything else while your at it. Shit did your shoe lace break today, if it did I’m sure it’s Katrina’s fault.
FYI ,,,
No one is here begging for anything FREE - not in the beginning nor at present.
Higher Insurance:
Increases have not come to people just due to Katrina. How stupid some people are and can be not to discount it’s a shame how quick people love to place blame. Higher Ins rates are and have been a result due to Floods, Tornados, Earth Quakes & Fire. Take into consideration states/towns that have never before flooded same where-as with Tornados ripping apart areas never before hit.
People here have heard so much bullshit related to Katrina it’s become some what comical. It goes to proves how dumb people really are and can be.
If you had a increase in your premiums certainly isn’t due to Katrina alone. Or is it your contention other factors do not count for rate increases. Grass Fires Calf/Texas w/again affect Insurance.
For those who like playing the blame game when 911 occurred I suppose we should be blaming people in New York for the planes that rammed into Twin Towers. Not their fault. But what the hell lets blame the victims.
Florida Residents:
I lived in Pensacola Florida and was there just before Ivan elected to bring his ass in for a visit. I have Family who suffered in Homestead because of Andrew. What began Floridas insurance to increases are & were due to Andrew & Ivan. Insurance rates in Florida began climbing LONG before Katrina ever hit the Gulf Coast.
" News Flash "
I dont need a Flordia Insurance lesson I paid premiums there too. Lets not just zero in place blame on Katrina. Lets state some real facts which can be verified.
For those Misguided Souls:
Anyone under the impression Mississippi residents didn’t have Insurance at the time of Katrina and is now apparent that some believe people are refusing to pay Insurance are totally clueless. .. Yes I have heard this many times these past 2 years plus after Katrina and’s nothing more then load of Bullshit.
“ WRONG “ we have thousands of Residents & Renters alike who had Insurance and have been literally screwed out of their coverage by Insurance Companies. You bet the majority of these people have not been paid one penny. They're still fighting 2 years later for what is rightfully theirs.
Senator Trent Lott:
Also in process of litigation trying to collect what is rightfully his same others. It's amazing no one takes into consideration these people have been fighting for over 2 years plus and still unable to rebuild yet they pay for mortgages where there are no homes. They are fighting same as you would be, dont forget they paid their premiums too and were covered by Insurance.
Yeah I'd like to see those who keep flapping their lips pay double Mortgages ^ top that with adding high Insurance Premiums. Now who was the idoit who claimed foreclosures here not attributed to Insurance. Get a grip people. If your homes destroyed and your Insurance refuses to pay your claim you think your Mortgage payments stop. HELL no they dont you still pay !
FYI: ..
Why you people should pay close attention to what’s happening here is these cases and how they are played out will result determinations as to how claims can & will be paid in the future and not just in this region. You too one day could be refused a claim so my advise to you is pay closer attention.
People here are not refusing to pay for insurance, if it’s assessed fairly as well as it being affordable. Not priced at a rate so ridiculously high it causes a person to lose to their home as a result. You must think these homes would be valued in high dollar, not the case. It doesn’t matter where one lives no one agrees to be railroaded.
No in-put regarding high premiums you would not be able to pay, eh. Here is the result hundreds of people now have depleted their life’s savings paying their own way same as they always have but I suppose there are those who some how assume that was never a possibility where Katrina victims are concerned.
Those riding high horses & boast so easy to others if they choose to live in places where bad or damaging weather might occur ,,, people should accept what a Insurance company would propose and they should pay it and be satisfied. Does the same apply to any person who pays for extended auto warranties and when your being screwed out of pocket you too should pay it and keep your mouth closed? ,,,Let me think about that for a bit. I’ll get back to ya.
Comical:
Since I been a member I have read numerous posts where people are complaining about being assessed high taxes and they fight their Tax assessors, why not fair here too, why don’t you just pay the higher tax and keep your mouth shut. Ah hell let me remind you also be sure to and blame your higher taxes on Katrina as well ^ we wont mind.
Just maybe those who I was praying for never wanting them to have to experience what we have here is the wrong direction. Maybe I should start praying for disasters elsewhere. Who knows if it happens people along the Ms Gulf Coast could learn a thing or two from the experts. Lord knows they would welcome all the FREE help they can get.
PS:
In the event your un-aware People in the State of Mississippi pay their TAXES same as you do.
Well said!!! How can anyone else possiby know or pretend to know what Katrina victims went through? Until you walk in that persons shoes you CAN'T know what they are going through.
As for higher insurance rates, the insurance companies will look for ANY excuse to charge higher rates. They will also make sure they don't have to pay on big claims.
Insurance companies are run by mercenaries.
WOW! I had know idea my property taxes here in Illinois were because of Katrina. Thanks for clearing that up.
Checy your welcome lastt ime your toilet stopped up
that was Katrina's fault too.
Ms Pepr your got that right ..
Today March 7, 2008:
New Orleans on the road to recovery. Today NO was to make
a decision and give answer their this morning:
One of their schools insured for 22 Million and they have been paying for 22 Million on coverage.
Their Insurance Co wants to give them a big whopping
7 Million Dollars.
I guess they should shut up & take the 7 Million matters not the state has been paying for 22 Million dollars worth of coverage.
Well Playing, clearly you are pissed off by the opinions of people who did not live through Katrina, but remember, we only know what we read and we form our opinions using that information. What I read was that a lot of home owners did not have insurance, and for many who did, their insurance didn't cover hurricanes. I also read that many were insured by 'local' companies that quickly filed bankruptcy and didn't pay their claims. This is where I would like to see the government step in and help.
I haven't been through any natural disasters except for a few earthquakes in Seattle, and none of them did much damage. Most of us can't even really imagine what it would be like to be in an area that is so devastated, and then get screwed by your insurance company.
Insurance is nothing more than legalized gambling. Your insurance company is betting that you will never have a disaster and you are betting that you will.
Very well said! Not only did our insurance rates go up, some companies will not sell a policy. And, it is mandatory to get the wind insurance. I live about a mile from the Gulf and received minor damage. Needed a new roof, part of my fence went somewhere and my utility shed is where ever. If I can find the pictures, I will post one of my son's best friend's house. All that was left was the roof. So, there went all their hurricane supplies, etc.
I did not receive any FEMA, MEMA, or any other sort of help. I did get my insurance money.
I did see loads of people who left jobs, took early vacations, etc and came here to help.
I never blamed anything on Katrina, yet I feel I'm getting yelled at.
Playing, you sound like you got rained on bad. I don't know who you could have hurt you like this by blaming Katrina for so many things. I have never heard Katrina blamed for anything. I have heard the government blamed for Katrina.
I know that early on hundreds of thousands reached out to help by coming here in caravans to work, to provide food, clothing and money -- and that deserves a big thank you.
As for the insurance, yes, I feel I have been victimized as you do by the premiums we pay in Florida. We moved to Pensacola from Fort Lauderdale and the insurance has tripled since then because of the numerous hurricanes we have suffered here in Florida for the last few years.
I know some people who are still not ok since Katrina, but for the most part the work and effort put forth by New Orleans and Gulf Coast residents has been astounding. I hope you agree that those who lost so much and still had the courage and strength to rebuild must be applauded.
Please try to congratulate yourself as I do that you got through it instead of feeling so bad. I wish I could help you to feel better.
Hey my insurance went up to and I dont even live by the coast. Insurance is a big rip+off you cant really be without. I dont blame katrina or the government for what happened to new orleans. If you had another come ashore it will proably do it again because that is what happens when you build a city below sea level.
