Want to quit

Hello all,
I am 65 and started smoking when I was 19. I have tried everything to quit. I have been trying the new Chantix. It makes me very sick. My doctor has ordered it in a smaller dosage so I will be trying it again. I hope it will work for me this time. Need all the help I can get.

Hello countrygirl,

First, congratulations on your decision to quit. That is always a big step. Second, I always mention to folks........the urge to smoke lasts 10 seconds. So, really we all quit 10 seconds at a time.

I used the patch system. Did it help? To be honest really.........I think a person fisrst has to have a mindset to do it. With the right mindset, I know it can be done.
