Smoke House Plans

Hey, I just added a file with a plan for another smoke house. Pretty simple construction and can be built for about 150 dollars which includes the propane burner.
Quick little project for those without, good directions and measurements. Here's a link to it: view link

Thank you for posting
Smoke House Plans
I have them saved for future use

today hubby taught me how to use our cement
mixer. we are making an edging around our grass and needed a base to put the cottage bricks on....
Yea only takes 15 minutes to cut the grass.
The old house took 5 hours...more land tho.

Hi!
Just joined and wanted to say hello! These Smoke House Plans look great! Where would I be able to find the burner and shelving? My father used to own a meat market and I used to make quite abit of sausage and smoked meats. Since then, I've moved on to other things, but have always had the passion and would like to dabble back into it at home.
Thanks in advance...John

Hi John, and welcome to the group.

There are plans in the File section of the ‘cue Group for building a smoke house for a Bradley Smoke Generator. Or you can buy a complete Bradley Smoker set up. Moderator Mass’ has one of these things. See the complete line at:

But first, I’d have a look at more simple, cheaper options. Why you can build a smoker out of a metal garbage can. It uses a single electric hotplate to create smoke. Have a look at this link:

You got your electric smokers, charcoal smokers, propane smokers and such. I first learned to smoke using a hole in the ground with a sheet of metal laid out on the top and air holes on two ends.

If you don’t have an inclination to make your own smoker, here is a sampling of some smokers for you to look at:

I imagine you could find wire shelving at hardware stores like Home Depot and the like. You may have to build your smoke shack around what size shelving you can find. It looks to me that wire is the best because it allows the smoke to circulate around the food better.

Mass’, our moderator, has a Bradley smoker kit. He has also posted plans for a smoke shack that uses a stand alone Bradley smoke generator. Have a look at these plans at:

Hope you find some’um that appeals to you. It takes longer to smoke food than to cook it on a grill, but the flavor is so fine.

Bon a’tite!

Paddy;
Now that was a nice welcome to the new people.
I hope they check out some of the projects, and let us know how they did.
I am always open to new ideas, and processes.

Hi John, Welcome to the group! You will probably get more help than you might want with this topic :^)

Paddy, good summary of info there. I went through the trash can smoker article and the one thing that always bothered me about it was getting access to the smoke box once you got rolling. Then I remembered the Smoke Pistol that I posted last month. It would be perfect for this application and keep you out of the can to boot!

Here's a link to it again: view link

That’s a good idea Mass; the Smoke Pistol.

Or, you could just cut a little swivel door or such in the bottom of the trash can and use a long spoon to add wet chips of wood.

My first smoker, which I still have, is an electric smoker with two racks; one rack for a water pan. It has such a “door” at the bottom. I just spoon wet wood chips on top of what looks like an electric charcoal starter, but with a thermostat control.

I think the Smoke Pistol would work even better. Not as much mess.

John, I wish I had somebody like us to help me out when I was you.

Thanks so much for all this info! Sorry it took awhile to reply back. Just still trying to find my way around this place! You know I've heard some folks somehow even rig up an old refrigerator for smoking. Not sure on that though because of the plastics these days. I'm sure an old metal one would work great! Thanks again for the welcome and the info. Definitely lookin' forward to giving this a go!

Have a great night!
