Fall Is Soon To Be Upon Michigan`

One of the things I do love most about Michigan is the beauty God paints our State in the Fall of the year.

One of my most favorite places to visit is Tahquamenon Falls - anytime of the year - but especially in the Fall.

If you have never had the opportunity to visit the Falls, take a ride on the Tooneyville Trolley. You go for a long ride through the forest on a train, then it takes you to a paddle boat where you take a relaxing ride to the Falls, where you get off and take a tour on foot to the Falls.

My opinion - prettier than Niagara Falls could ever be!

Sorry to you states who do not have the beauty of four seasons in your states. Don't y'all be haters now - take a look at this picture!

Why Is Sex Soooo Important?

We humans are rare on the planet because we use sex for purposes other than producing offspring. (True..some humans are rarer than others.) Chimps are the only other species which comes to mind. What does having sex really mean to and/or do for you?

Inquiring minds want to know.

Morning!

Denny invited me to join and I am honored. We are having a bit of excitement this week because of the high water we got from the "afterburn" of Gustav. We are fine but some of our neighbors are not. I am typing this with a three year old, Kevin, on my lap while his older Sister and Mom get some much needed sleep. Denny and some the other men around are saddling the horses and are in the process of having an old fashioned cattle drive getting the rest of the livestock up to higher ground. Our yard is full of stock trailers and 4 wheelers! They actually started this project yesterday and moved the most "in need" to safer havens. Mom and Millie are busy with breakfast, coffee and bossing, Kevin and I are hiding out! We decided the best way we could help would be to stay out of the way and leave them to it. There are also about five stock dogs that are raising a ruckus anxious to get this show on the road.

Books & Bookstores

In Hay-on-Wye, the small mid-Welsh town
surrounded by rocky green hillsides where
sheep short-clip the grass, 39 bookstores
flourish, nourishing tourists and
feeding the literary shopkeepers’ children.
“The town of more than a million books”
shelved and stacked sideways by a thousand residents
gladly opens its tea shops to we who come seeking
treasure in the street signs rich with consonants,
treasure within the pages we’ll carry home.

Each bookstore there has its own jumbled theme:
some large, some small, one even outdoors,
its sagging shelves propped against
stone walls built of the hills’ steady crop and
faced with roll-down plastic sheets to ward off
a sudden rain, as rain will often fall on Wales.
And each contains such nooks as would befit
a town created for pause and perusal.

In Montague, Massachusetts, a small town
tucked away from traffic and rush, the old mill
sits by a racing stream where rocks split the falls
and boulders offer seats to we who’d take to the sun
when the sun’s there for taking, take to old books
on the old mill’s wooden shelves.
And when it rains, as it often will in New England,
we take to the overstuffed, coming-unstuffed sofas
each set to catch light from the mullioned windows,
to comfort and welcome we who’ve come to seek our
“Books you don’t need in a place you can’t find.”

Each room in the mill has its own stated theme:
Philosophy and Religion, Literature, Art, Politics
of Asia, Latin America, Women and/or Rebellion.
And each floor creaks with the footfalls of such
ghosts and scholars as would be drawn to this
hideaway spot, scented by strong coffee and
baking muffins, plus just enough must as would
befit a mill made over for reading and renewal.

In this small quiet room where I now sit, softly lit
against the rain and rush of wind outside, I am
surrounded by the books I’ve sought across
the ocean and alongside a nearby stream,
each acquired to nurture a theme:
curiosity, convincement, pleasure and/or purpose.
And the steaming tea in my stoneware mug befits
an afternoon made to mirror such moments.

Speak your Mind!

I would like to hear what you think about this video. The photo is also available on Photo Bucket.com. I use photo bucket quite frequently, but this is the first time I have ever come across anything like this. Do we really need wonder why there is so much violence with our teens today? How about the random school shootings?? Take a look and I would love to hear your comment. Should stuff like this be posted?

60 days to decide

It doesn't look like many are coming onto this site but I will post a thought and see what comes up.
In less then 60 days and election will be held. How does everyone feel it will affect their portfolios?
Buy more while stocks are on sale? Go all into cash or load up on tax-free muni's?
If the Dems win, I will divide mine into cash and tax-free munis.

JUST GOSSIP

Got something you want to say? You don't have to be a writer to voice your opinion about something or share a tidbit with everybody else. We are resurrecting the Gossip Thread. Sound off = you can treat this as a mini blog if you want to - just keep it from being XXX rated.
