Greetings from a History Fanatic!
I'm a 49er. Born in Baltimore that year. I share a birthday with Robert E. Lee and Edgar Allan Poe. If you are familiar with the Poe Toaster (the mystery man who leaves 3 roses and cognac on Poe's grave in Baltimore), the first recorded instance of that was on my birthday (Jan. 19, 1949). My father was in the US Army in WW II (New Guinea and the Philippines). My great uncle was in WW I. Another great uncle I was named after (William Beynon) was a fireman in the Great Baltimore Fire of 1904. I just found out a few months ago that my great-grandfather (John Connery) was in the Baltimore City Police Department in the 1870s and 1880s. I've always been interested in History and Literature. I'm trying to find out more about my ancestry. For all I know, I'm a distant cousin of Sir Sean Connery!
