What This Group Is About

The members of this group are great folks who really care about Our Military Heroes. We have, however, had to delete several messages due to the content of them. One was a dating site, another was posted by an author selling her book, some were politically related to the war and the president and some just used inappropriate language. While I'm sure the author did this with good intentions we cannot have anyone making a personal profit from this group or use language that may be offensive to others.

This group was started as a way to honor our heroes, and the majority of our members have always done that. In any event, we do not want to make light of what this group is about. I ask that if any of you see something that would be considered in bad taste to please contact either the manager or one of the moderators via a PM so it can be taken care of.

Thank you very much - and we hope you enjoy being here!

We love our heroes!

My primary Military Hero has to be my father. Hubbard Frederick Goodwin graduated from the Naval Academy in 1922. Hyman G. Rickover was one of his Classmates. Dad did not talk about "Hymie" very much.
During WWII Dad served as Executive Officer on the USS NEW ORLEANS and Commanding Officer of the USS GRANVILLE. Duty was in the Western Pacific. He talked of shooting down and dodging Japanese suicide aircraft. He said his greatest feat was being a part of the "Magic Carpet" fleet that brought soldiers, sailors, and airmen back to the United States after WWII ended. He did receive a Bronze Star and all the activity medals of the time and place. He always encouraged me to follow my own mind. I joined the Naval Reserve in high school and went of activ duty in 1962 on graduation. Duty was great!!
