Critiques, are fine when done in the spirit of kindness. Some of us have tender what cha ma call its. But I would appreciate direction.
Ok - I'll reply. I, for one, am a little gun shy and fragile when it comes to critiques. I mainly write for myself and my pleasure and enjoy reading others writings for the same reason. Sometimes I get it and sometimes I don't. When someone asks for a critique and I feel strongly about something I may respond, but usually in a PM.
There are times when I do want feedback and at those times I will ask for it, either publicly or privately. Feedback... ha ha, I guess I like that word better than critique. Somehow critique carries a negative with it that I am not comfortable with... giving or receiving. I know, I know, it is only a word. Sooooooo, that is my take on this topic. This is a great group and whatever you decide with this critique thing will be fine. I am learning a lot and will continue to learn either way. I just wouldn't want to scare anyone away from posting their work because of unwanted or unexpected criticism.
Thanks PJ... you Rock!

I personally did not see anything wrong with your first answer, we are adults if we want to be critique then we can ask. I guess I do not understand anyone's desire to freely critique some one else's stuff without their requesting. Seems rather self serving to me. That is my honest answer.
Packfan and dreamer stated how I feel about critique.
Many poems are feelings from the heart expressed in the best way a person is able. Just how does one critique that?
