What things turn your crank? What do you do that you enjoy? Hobby? Avocation? What jobs did you hold before this? What skills or knowledge do you have from the years of working for someone else?
When you graduate you will be older than you are now. Unless you will be content being a part time greeter for WalMart, I would rethink piling on more education in the belief it will make you more marketable at 66, 67 or 68 than you are now.
My recommendation would be to build your own business, operating right from your home (there go commuting costs you won't have to consider, plus the time you will gain every day) -- and put your efforts into building a business doing something you truly like. You will be your own boss and your age won't matter to you, will it?
If you enjoy cooking and would enjoy preparing meals for someone else, there's catering. Personal shopper. Dog walker, even. House sitter. Delivering papers, which take few hours for what the pay can be. If you like driving and know your ciy, drive a taxi. If you build up a good clientele, you can make a decent living at it. If you do cake decorating, photography, crafts, you can build a business selling your products and services. Do you sing, play a musical instrument? Have a knack for gardening -- enough to maintain someone else's yard or even design a landscape?
By the time we have reached our age,we have a lot of marketable knowledge and skills at our fingertips and top of our head. It can be more valuable than what someone else is willing to pay us when they are the person in between, the middleman.
It requires a shift of mind set, but over 65 my recommendation would be to build your own business - from what you enjoy doing most. Begin it on a small scale at home, keep your dreaded super market job if you need to for awhile until it gets off the ground, and you just might be surprised at how much you can earn -- and love what you are doing at the same time.
Well, you have a supplemental income so keep the security of that and follow the advice of the previous message. For instance who better to start a staffing agency of business and executive assistants than someone who has had a long career in it. I wouldn't know where to begin but I'll bet that there is sea of talented people that started small businesses in something they knew and understood. While you work at this job you can actively research building your own business. Communities have great resources for small busniness guidance and instruction. You have the experience so get some facts on how to make it work for you. The office scene may have burnt you out but that doesn't mean you can't make those years work for you.
Hi Lindy 12,
Give me a call or send me your number and I will call you. I would like to share information with you about working as a beauty consultant with Mary Kay, Inc.
check out my website: www.marykay/kacy/
where you can learn more!
Also, the possibilities are unlimited but it takes work.
I love it and I invested a small amount $100+tax for initial starter kit. Then I decided to purchase inventory ($600 + tax and shipping) to get started.
I am now building my customer base and I hope to have 100 skin care customers by June 07!
Call me or email me through my website. I will be happy to discuss the MK opportunity with you.

Hi -- I applaud you for taking the job you are in at the supermarket. In fact you are enhancing your retail and service skills, which will only add to your office/admin skill set. Your next step in job search will be to look for a job that needs both and administrative AND retail/customer service skill set. And you'll have both.
Best of success and keep us posted.
Wendy
Hi Girl!
Just because you are retired, doesn't mean your a gonner. You have to shed that now! If you continue thinging in that manner, Sure, everything, becomes a downer. Start thinking positive, start doing some thing, that will change your life. It may be to join a Gym, you would be surprised at the changes in your mood will be. Physically too, but just hang in, it may take a couple of visits to that Gym, before the endorphines, kick in. You'll find that thinks will start to go your way, and you will find that little nack, or job that you want so bad. Stay Positive! If there is any thing I can do let me know. I will always have a kind and positive Word , for you. If you need a job, I may have a couple of things you might like to try. See my blog.
